when i import files,they do not appear in my libary,just installed mm express 6 on my new laptop, i never had this problem with mm express 6 on my pc,all files imported with no problems at all, anyone any idea's

hi im havin the same problems wi my new laptop, programme works fine on my pc an the laptop i bought last year but the files wont appear on the this one, just wondering if u had any luck fixing the problem?

I'm going to say this again, and just keep saying it for all you noobs out there:
If you cannot specifically detail the nature of your problems, including your system specifications and details about how and when such problems began, no one here is ever going to be able to help you. Posting queries like this in the forums is a waste of your time because what you are doing is akin to going to a doctor and simply saying, "It hurts!" What hurts? When does it hurt? What did you do prior to it hurting? What is the past history of your body? etc., etc. Take the time to look around in the forums here for how forum posts requesting support should be posed. For both of your requests here, I'm handing you off directly to technical support at MM: http://www.mixmeister.com/support_morehelp.html so that they can get back to you and perhaps pull this information from your brain via direct back and forth conversation. You will note that the form asks for specifics, and you need to provide them to get the fastest resolution on your problem as possible. Making requests of this nature in our forums is a useless waste of your time unless you provide typewritten details. Ok so I am in the same boat as these guys. Now here is the problem.
1. I imported my songs from an external hard drive, most loaded. 2. I imported my library from itunes, this was achieved in two ways, I did the whole drag and drop, which a lot loaded, plus I went through to the actual storage folder and loaded the rest. BUT... only about a third of all of the songs loaded. Not sure why. I thought possibly it was due to copyrights, or piracy codes. But some had them and went right on through. So I called support, no answer. So now does anyone have any idea on what to do? |

A couple of things occur to me:
You called support and got no answe WHEN? On a weekend? Call on a weekday. It's a busines; most businesses do not simply not answer the phone.... If you don't get a phone response, you still have the option of submitting the Tech Support request form available via this website. Then there's this:
I'm not sure (because you don't say) how you are determining "some had [DRM] and went right on through". But it sounds like you are grabbing multiple files to import ... what happens when you select ONE file that you know has no DRM (because you didn't buy it from iTunes but bought it from a DRM-free source such as emusic.com or got it via ripping one of your own CDs.) Does it import? Then take a single iTunes track (which generally have DRM) and try -- does it import? Try something specific and individual, rather than grabbing a plateful and making assumptions about which came into the program and which didn't. That way, you will be able to report on specifics once you get going with Technical Support. As Tepmix says in his post, specifics are essential to figuring out technical issues ... for instance, when you say
you should be able to describe how the files that failed to load are different from the ones that loaded ... HTH I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

So here is the background. The itunes files, yes most were from a drm free site, many were from a cd rip. Now I have tried the whole drag and drop with single tracks, on occasion, and what I find really odd, is that from a cd rip album, I drag track 1, loads,scans, it is in the library, I repeat with track two, nothing. 3 might work, 4.5. and so on.
Now, the external hard drive, this is really my big ol drive I take with me, it has all of my files on it, really this is for gigs that have serato and such. which so far has posed less of an issue than this program. Now I went through the whole add to library, both folders and files worth. Again it would only pick up this and that track. Now they are all mp3 files, thay are all nice and neat, but for some reason they do not all load. Now as far as tech support goes. I called them mid day friday, I got an automated response. Knowing that companys are busy, I thought, "Hey there is this forum, maybe someone would be on there that could help me?" I found a post, that after digging through the whole damn thing, that a few others were having the same problem, now be it they were being very vague, but were having an issue. Now I know that through my job, when someone says it hurts, I ask what hurts, then if they need some help I ask where exactly, and what are they doing when it hurts. Some people need a gentle touch, especially when they are new to things, they just don't know how to ask. So just lighten up a bit, and if you don't want to help that's fine, I can eventually get through to tech support. |

Well, don't take it the wrong way ... this thread started with a couple of vague "it hurts" type questions, and Tepmix pointed out there's a better way to get help ... since your post wasn't very detailed, I'm just restating pretty much what Tep already pointed out. Some people do call Tech Support on the weekends, so it was fair to ask that. When you said "I called tech support. no answer", it sounded like the phone rang and was never picked up ... again, it was fair to ask you to clarify that. You mention that you saw other people posting about the same thing on the forum ... that's true, and it's also true that if any of them ever got any help, they didn't come back and post what the answer was ... so far, we have all questions, no answers, so from that I would imagine that the forum won't be too productive as a place to get help on this. As for me personally, it isn't that I don't want to help, it's that I don't have an answer (in fact, I've never had this problem) ... and from what I can tell, no one else on the forum has the answer either. You don't say if you've ever filled out and submitted the Tech Support Help request form. As far as I can tell, that's your next move, unless you try calling again ... Good luck. You knoI do find it true, that many do find a solution and don't come back to say "Hey this worked!" hmm, I know I need to fill out a tech request form, just thought I would come here first.
Though: I did solve part of the problem, I had forgotten that it had been a while since I consolidated the library in itunes, which likes to add the new files to the back up folder on the hard drive, when I did this, I then opened MME, low and behold it had added those files and begun to scan them. I still need to figure out what is going on with the external drive, but will wait till I can talk to a human, just so I can get it right. thx |

So I finally narrowed it down to this, any cd that I ripped using itunes will not load onto mme. have no idea and will be contacting customer support.
