How do I get a mix from my computer to another?
I have about a 5 hour party mix (2.3GB) that I would like to take to another computer. When I export it as a .wav file, all looks normal as far as file properties. But when I try to play it in either MediaMonkey or Windows Media Player, nothing happens. I'd like to put some kind of file that works on a flash drive to take it to another computer. The mix is continuous, so I don't know how to break it into 4 or 5 cd's. I looked at trying to export it as an mp3 to see if that would make any difference, but the limit is 128k and these are all at 320 and need to stay that way for top quality playback. Just how ignorant am I? Thanks for any help!!! Dave |

Can the set be exported TO Disc? (DVD maybe? I'm not sure the functionality of Express...but I know that Studio & Pro 6 had the ability to "burn to disc".)
As far as breaking the mix up....use your "LINE SEGMENT" function (the "L" key) on your playlist. You will set THOSE markers where you want the "track" breaks to be. Upon doing this...I believe you can export to the "mixed" file...have those 4 or 5 mixed files...then burn each to it's own CD. Maybe I'm firing off half cocked...but maybe this will help? _____________________________________________________________________________________ according to my wife....I lived here?? The L key will make a Line segment? I posted this also in a more active part of the forum, but maybe I'm just out of luck with the smaller program (6 express) though I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it.
If players can't take such a large file in general, I would think there would be a way to make a folder containing the playlist and the needed mp3's...? |

Correct. You just need to manually copy the tracks you are using, the "saved playlist" (.mmp file), and I typically like to port the .mxm files (track plot files) as well. That way:
A. I have a FULL copy of my set on backup, as well as a backup of the tracks themselves (in case they're needed in the future) B. I have a way to move said mix from machine to machine...just in case.... The line functions can be exploited when you export the mix. You can find that there is a checkbox in that window when you export to "split tracks at segments" I believe. I'll have to get the correct terminology, but that should get you started in the right direction. That Split Tracks will create INDIVIDUAL .wav files that have been exported where you have placed those markers. [i]**P.S. no need to double post....[/] _____________________________________________________________________________________ according to my wife....I lived here?? Let me know if any of these methods have helped....or if you are able to resolve this.

Well, the simplest answer for me (as a simpleton) was to export the mix into a folder as individual wav files. I would have preferred to just have one large mp3 file on a flash drive, but this works.
