DJ Doigt,

Is this one of the mixes you submitted to MM Radio? If yes, we will have to remove the list per the Copyright Agencies rules. Sorry.

Very cool graphic though; it must stay!

Which songs are copyrighted? I can replace them by some other songs and then re-submit it. Confused

There are certain tracks you can't play on mmradio?
<JET>
Posted   Reply With QuoteEdit or Delete MessageReport This Post
Sorry for the confusion.

The broadcast agreement with the Copyright Agencies does not provide for the displaying of the whole broadcast material in detail prior or during the broadcast. In other words, if your mix is or will be played on MM Radio, then we have to ask you NOT to display the Playlist contents in the Forum per MixMeister LLC's broadcast agreements.

This applies only to material the submitter does NOT have full and complete legal ownership rights. Which pretty much means that unless you wrote and recorded an original song yourself, it is copyrighted.

Each song and artist can be displayed individually at the time of play, and one or two of the artists or songs in the mix (Playlist) can be mentioned as a descriptor of the mix....Just not the Playlist as a whole.

MixMeister LLC has gone to great lengths both personal and financial to bring us a legal venue for sharing our mixes. We should play by the rules.

I need to finished refining The Rules so everyone can read it for themselves. I'll make it my next order of business and put my latest mix on hold. (I hit a bit of a creativity slump anyway!)

MixMeister LLC IS working on the "currently playing Song and Artist" feature for MM Radio.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Keep mixing and submitting!

According to US law, any creative work is copyrighted as of its creation. The creator of the work is the owner of the copyright unless that person or entity contractually transfers the copyright to another, or creates the work as part of their regular employment, in which case, it belongs to their employer. Copyrights may be registered (with the Copyrright Office in the U.S., for instance) but registration of a copyright only provides for certain remedies in the event of legal action -- registration is not necessary in order to establish the artist's copyright.

As JET says, unless you yourself have written and recorded the music which you use on your mixes, the copyright belongs to someone else.

The copyright agencies MixMeister pays internet broadcast license fees to are ASCAP, BMI, SESAC. These agencies cover most of the music in the US market.

But, technically if you do not have legal ownership of the original copyright and the artist or artists do not subscribe to these three agencies then MixMeister can not legally broadcast their music on-line.

Currently MixMeister has left the responsibility for this compliance to the entity submitting the mixes.
