"Trance Addicts" may be interested in a free online database for electronica music here. This site was established by members of the Tranceaddict forum. Another similar website is British. The mother of all collaborative harmonic mixing databases is run by DJ Prince in Norway.

These are all collaborative websites, where users are asked to update the database with their own information. As such, their accuracy is only as good as the music knowledge of those submitting track information.

Another harmonic mixing resource is provided at Mixshare. Unfortunately, it is also unavailable to Win98 users because it apparently requires an incompatible version of Java.

I stand corrected on the unavailability issue. That Java version, and therefore Mixshare's RE2, is available to Win98 users.

Hey Camelot Sound!

Is your name Mark?

If it is, I would fall on my knees straight
away and would thank you for converting
the cycle of fifths into the camelot circle! Cans

At least thats what I read on mixedinkey.com...

I have bought me a license of mixedinkey 3 from
mixedinkey.com. The software is doing a great job.

Best regards

Martin

Yes, I am Mark. Thanks for the kind words! Now that you have keyed the first 10,000 tracks, do you plan to key all 360,000 tracks?

It's great that you have the tracks sorted by key. This allows users to quickly compare tracks with the same (or compatible) tonal centers. A miskeyed track should be readily apparent.

BTW: Have you compare the sound quality of Beatport samples to Traxsource samples? Traxsource samples sound much better to me. It's like comparing AM radio and FM radio.

Hi Mark!

I accord with you that the Beatport Sample sound-quality is like AM Radio. It's actually the first database that we have employed and it won't be the last!

But the good thing with beatport is the Option to download the DJ Files as WAV. For a DJ that's an iportant reason to buy files from Beatport! That's why I like Beatport so much!

Once we're partnered with other sites we will include their samples as well.

But that's something to look out for in the future!

It would be helpful to your customers to provide an explanation of how harmonic mixing uses the keycodes you list for each track. A link to our Easymix Circle should work well.

Thanks for your suggestion! We have put up your Camelot Easymix Circle on our startpage and have linked the "Heart of it" with following text to your site:

Learn more about the Camelot Sound Easymix System

We will include the backlink, everywhere we use your Camelot Easymix Circle!

Could you put up a backlink to
our page in return? We would be very thankful if you could.

I was kind of on the fence about harmonic mixing until Saturday.

I was helping my friends band update their light show.

They mashed Play that funky music and War Pigs. I raced home to see if I could do it in MM. and realized the tracks are in the same key.

Brilliant.

Track-finder should be an outstanding resource for mashup artists. If Mixmeister reports your original song is in keycode 8A, for example, then Track-finder allows you to preview many compatible tracks that you may not already have. It should be easy to find one with a compatible rhythm structure AND key using this resource.
