The last piece of the music puzzle is falling into place here, with the discovery that I can now rip my vinyl to my XP box via the old Steinberg Clean! preamp and software combo -- for some reason, I doubted it would work but I was wrong ... man, I love it when I'm wrong like that

The big step was figuring out how to kill the 60hz hum but thanks to the internet and the fact that many have gone down this road before me, I managed to set things up so that I get a very clean, hum-free signal. Now the weakest link in my process is my turntable which is older than dirt ... if this ripping vinyl thing turns into a big deal, I may have to replace it.

I've been inspired to handle this project because of the great mixes being turned out by Wildr, Gadget Girl and many others ... in fact, I recollect listening to Wildr's most recent 80s mix and thinking, "He did a really great job on the mixing, but those tracks just aren't my 80s tracks...." And you know, the only solution for that sensation is to make my own mix
