MixedInKey reports that DJ Mag has just announced the results of their Top 100 DJ poll, and that nine of the top twenty DJs now use harmonic mixing. Great progress!
Stop this ride, I wanna get off!

Harmonic mixing is an evolutionary stage. Just as it took a while for modern man to replace the Neanderthals, and for digital recording to replace analog, it will take a while for many DJs to evolve into harmonic mixing.

It seems to me that more House DJ's do this than Top 40 DJ's...maybe because there is more room (time) to execute transitions.

The numbers that do not use harmonics may reflect the proliferation of Top 40 DJ's out in the market.

Naturally is harmonic mixing better than mixing in very different keys. Why?
I have played guitars earlier, have a bit clue of tones and keys. The system of the keys is hundred of years
old. Now we have only pop - music, the best composers were the classics.

When you now mix very different tones together that sounds disharmonious! In the keys are these tones. Hundreds of people have filed at the tone - system with the keys, have composed with it over hundreds of years.
So when you mix very different keys together you are a revolutionary, but a bad one, because you do have no clue of the tones!!!

It´s so as when you want to create your language new, and you don´t write: "The world is a wonderful place", but
"World a is the place wonderful"! You do something that is against the human harmonic understanding!

Would anyone care to speculate as to the percentage of Top DJs using vinyl, CDs, and computer mixing in their live performances nowadays?
