I'm using MixMeister Studio 7 and I have a long way from being a professional. I was wondering what's the best music styles for mixing and blending?

Hi and welcome to beatmixing.com Smile

I would say EDM (electronic dance music) styles, because they have good constant beats and perfect for beat matching. Also, extended versions are more dj friendly than short radio versions. The long intro and outros of the songs are perfect for mixing.

hope that helps Smile

I've mixed a few styles of music and found that house and electro are the easiest to mix as there are usually standard intros and outros. Drum & Bass is another style I mix but it can be a bit trickier as the tracks often don’t have the same song structures and the beats can be quite different. Also MixMeister (version 6 anyway) sometimes has problems getting the tempo right so some tracks appear as being much faster than the others which you’re trying to mix. My advice would be to start by mixing house and as DJ Spaceman mentioned avoid radio edits as they can be more awkward to mix.

Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind!

That's what makes MM interesting to work with, i find it usefull for cutting up samples then adding them radio versions, they are much harder for most but it's a good way to get a pukka mix going. or lay down your own drum beat and then add samples and stuff to create your own special type of mix. alot of people think drop your music in the window and it will mix not always the case. when useing the snap to the beat feature, it's not always best to use that, it's ok with the same BPM but i like to create some mad stuff. so my advice is play with all the different features that are on MM. Ps try key changing that's good fun two!

Good Luck

It all depends on what you like and who you are performing to. I usually go for Hip Hop but a good DJ can mix almost anything and people will like it.

Even though i'm a Hip Hop DJ, I do go for Dancehall, RnB and some reggae every now-and-then. Just choose a main genre and think of what is related to it. Like Techno is kinda related to breaks and psy in my eyes. But I've never been that close to them so I wouldn't know.
