A Mac user is brining an ipod to my show Friday. I use PC mp3s that play with WinAmp. Can I just plug her ipod into a USB port, copy the mp3s to a folder on my PC, then drag them into Fusion? Will this work?

Tracks purchased from iTunes up to now have had DRM (copy prevention) on them and cannot usually be used in MixMeister -- there are numerous posts in the forum about this.

One of the possible solutions (which would not work for the situation you mention) is to burn the tunes off iPod onto a CD and then rip the CD.

But if they were just ripped onto a Mac from CDs and copied onto the ipod, they will copy OK onto a PC and then into Fusion?
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance !!!

Two things...

First: Madame, he was referring to mp3s and not AAC files (which is what you get from iTunes).

Second: DJHenri...if the iPod was formatted for Mac use, you'd need a Mac emulator on your PC in order for it to recognize the iPod (otherwise it will prompt you to format it for the PC, which will erase everything). Also, even if the iPod were PC formated, Apple has set up their iPods to prevent people from sharing files. The only way to circumvent that is to use your iPod as an external drive (which is what it is essentially), and transfer files by opening the drive and opening the folder containing the tracks*.

*[i've heard that there is software out there that allows you to circumvent Apple's anti-copying protection. However, I don't know if it is legal, therefore I won't advocate its use here]

Oh, my mistake, I thought all those other posts were about mp3 files, not AACs ... Shame

Thanks for the clarification....
