Are you using this same computer to do any other work while the scanning is going on?
There are other posts about frustrations people encounter when they try to scan a root directory with e.g., over 30,000 tracks on it. Rather than ask the program to scan a huge amount of files in one go, it can help to chunk them up into smaller groups. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

As long as you are not doing anything else and you are putting in about 4000 songs.... It should only take about 2-4-6 even eight hours depending on the computer specs.
BTW: You should not do anything anyways when scanning! Just like when you download or transfer songs, you should not do anything else and turn off that screen and power saver. Every time either of these kicks in your downloads can or will pause. Also, you will end up with POPS in your tunes just by moving your mouse while transferring. Food for thought. Banter |

How do you store your files on the hard drive -- all mp3s in one huge folder? Divided into folders by genre or by artist or by where you bought them or by when you bought them?
The more organized your storage is on the hard drive, the easier it is for you to simply import one folder (or a folder that has just, e.g., 2 or 3 subfolders within it) at a time. That's one way to control how many tracks you import ... I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |
