After weeks of hitting dead ends and dealing with Mixer's Block (cause this ain't "writing", I finally got smacked upside the head with Inspiration late Tuesday night. The result....I finally put to bed this mix that I had started over a month ago: Talkin' All That Jazz III: Flights Of Fancy

The third in the series brings us yet another collection of Hot Deep & Funky House tunes tied together by their secondary genre flavor: Jazz!!! I started things off on the deep, mellow, dub end...quickly progressing with a series of more slightly aggressive and upfront Bop & Swing. We've got the usual cast of characters like Stacy Kidd, Troydon (straight up and on remix duties), Late Night Alumni, JT Donaldson, Cricco Castelli, Inland Knights and many more.

As anyone who has mixed any type of Jazz can tell you, it can get a bit tricky...with differing harmonic progressions, basslines that often don't get along, as well as typical beats that have to be matched, this ain't exactly a picnic in the park. I like to think that i've done an adequate job of piecing together these swingin' joints to bring you a Funtastic mix...but, i'll let you all be the judge of that...which means all criticisms are welcome.

Note: The last transition in the mix was actually something that I cut up in order to get a particular sound and rhythm going involving two different Pianos that were somewhat complimentary (again, you be the judge). I actually cut up certain portions of the track and pieced it together to create this 32 measure Intro. After this mix has been in rotation for a while, i'll see about posting a screen shot of this in particular .

I loooove this track too...I remember when I bought it at Stompy.com...I couldn't wait to use that track...then months passed, and I finally used it....and i'm gald it's my last track..it ends the mix on a funky high note.

I can't wait to hear your full reaction when you get to hear this from the beginning.
