Baby Loves Disco (Part 1)

Hi! I’ve returned from a long absence from Beatmixing.com & Jack2It to bring you my new Mix; Baby Loves Disco. This is the first of a 4 Part mix authored on Mixmeister Fusion.
In the mix is a broadrange of updated classics from the 80’s disco and pop and mixed them with some of my favourite uptempo tracks from the last 12 months or so to give a really hearty house mix. A silky start lays the stage open for a few great moments in the mix. I really hope you enjoy listening to it. Feedback welcomed!:-)

Kicking the mix off is....Revtone laced with Suncreem and Daft Punk which paints the atmospherics for later on. Fans of Stevie Nicks, Duran Duran, TocaDisco, Cicada and Whitney Houston all appear as well as I hope a few surprises!

Technically, nearly every track has been re-edited, overlayed and otherwise transformed from the original. Mastering was by Izotope Ozone 3 preset with a few tweaks.

Most of all, enjoy listening to it.

Oh Yeah!

OB

Hey OB,

all sounds harmonic, well overlays! Burning question from me, sir: Do you work after the camelot sound system or after your ears? I´m an old musician and DJ, I know a bit from keys and why something fits harmonically not
together. It´s because the half notes in a song. When the half notes meets full notes that c a n sound
disharmonic. But not at all!
C Major for example has not any half note. When you mix now a C Major track with a key with many half notes that sounds often disharmonic. This is also so when tones from the accords or the melody are meeting tones which are a h a l f note higher or deeper.

To the mix:

AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhh! A fine dance - mix is this! Baby loves disco! It´s good to hear sometimes dance - music here, not always house. House is corking, but dance is also neat!!!

OB, what´s the cause why you have been absence for a long time? Is it private or because you have had no zest to mix? What is it?

Def mix, sir!

Hey OB,

Yep, a real sweet vocal/disco house treat Big Grin

Some nice mixing moments (eg. is the "I'm Every Woman" the original Whitney version, but then heavily chopped n' diced by you?).

As Holger says, harmonically no issues, and very sweet on the ears Oh Yeah!

Thanks for airing this very well-crafted set Smile

Thanks for the great feedback Dj Mojito / Nebulus.

What I try to do with most mixes is to appeal to the dancer and the ear. A bit like painting a landscape. The lyrics and drums are easily accessible but at the same time I try to feed the emotion with the harmonics which I hope provide another more complex layer to the mix, one which lasts for more than one play. Wink

As for approach, a wide cataolgue, a lot of time and plenty of time is what I need to put these mixes together...and of course Mixmesiter Studio! I'm not musically trained one bit, so everything is done by ear - I wouldnt know any other way.

Im currently working on the next parts of this mix - hopefully they'll be finished by the summer.

Again, thanks for the kind comments.
