For your serious criticism:
Music (Tepmix Mastermix Fugue) by Madonna, Groove Armada, Daft Punk and Deep Dish Total Time: 10:33 A great opener. Starts 120 BPM and ends at 128 BPM (Key of g-minor). Inspired by the recent phenomenon of "Madonnarama" club nights here at Berlin Club in Chicago (and I imagine other places now too if not soon). I decided my collection of nearly 200 Madonna remixes demanded some serious attention. And, if you hate Madonna, I'm sorry, you'll just have to let that go. However, if you have some great suggestions for further perfecting the musical progression of this remix, PLEASE advise. (If you would like a White Label copy of this remix on disk, make arrangements with me directly. I have some final mastering tweaks yet to perform, but it's nearly ready and I desperately need some feedback, and more than happy to get you a real, mastered copy on disk via snail mail.) Thanks! Jez,
This is a Tri-mash remix--utilizing 3 different remixes of "Music" by Groove Armada, Daft Punk and Deep Dish, cut, pasted edited, re-looped in sections and counterpointed back and forth with each other to create the "Fugue" effect. The mix was mastered with existing effects rack VSTs that comes packaged with Fusion, using almost all the nineteen or so effects that come pre-packaged including the OzoneMP plugin. They have been added to the tracks in dozens and dozens of places with automation for those and individual EQ, Param EQ, Reverb, Wah, Phaser, etc., etc., etc. In terms of the automation tweaks, those rise into the hundreds--hard to say how many so far, but probably 150-250 automation manipulations so far, including direct power on/power off things. The term "Fugue" was added to the remix title at the suggestion of a Professional Vocalist (Rock band lead singer here in Chicago--Doopy Lupre) friend of mine who previewed it just the other night before I prepped it for uploading here. His comment was that it "wove itself together in the style of a J.S. Bach Fugue." So the title "Music" (Mastermix Fugue Remix). I would upload some screenshots of the remix, but they would not be particularly enlightening because the majority of the track manipulation has been mastered though the automation features in the dozens of applied individual effects on the effects racks for the tracks themselves, and you really can't see those with screenshots as they're not happening with the regular bass/mid/treble volume lines that you can see in screen views--you really have to actually see the remix being performed live in Fusion while observing to see what's going on, watching the effects turn on and off and settings move automatically in the effects rack by track. Ryan will be here visiting in a few weeks. Perhaps we can figure out a way to make a video of the remix as a "Power Example" for our userbase, and I should have the final master of the remix completely finished and ready by then. This is the power of Fusion! I get more and more excited about it everytime I sit down and work with it. Thanks SO VERY MUCH for your comment Jez. Means a lot to me. ![]() Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |

+1 to that Real sweet, Tim. If this were up on beatport/djdownload/etc ..... I would buy it Just one point I would be interested on your view on. Maybe my hearing, but possibly a teeny bit of sibilence creeping in?? Seeing as you're using Ozone MP, maybe turn the highs down a wee bit ? Maybe being a bit picky here, but since you're the perfectionist Neb. |

No, MAYBE my hearing is the problem, not yours, as you know... . ...and that's scaring me. Point to some exact "esses" and "tees" if possible please? Let's make sure I can hear them. Lately, I'm paranoid. Thanks! Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |

Nope,
Neb, you are correct. I need to bring down the highs down across the board in certain sections to reduce the sibilence in specific areas. However, part of the problem is the compressed resolution in that damned 128 kbps beatmixing WMA broadcast stream--it's killing the full frequency response of the remix. That's adding to the problem. The sibilence is much less noticeable on mastered CD and on direct live ASIO out from my system into M-Audio BX-8A monitors where the bass and midrange are also more full and rich. One of the biggest problems noted amongst recording engineers these days is "Do I master for reduced bandwidth MP3/WMA etc. or not?" So, that really honks me off. I'm thinking not, or that I should perhaps make two masters--one for reduced bandwidth compressed digital file and one fully-mastered, full-range edition for 44,100khz CD and master WAVE digital audio. Nevertheless, I need to strike a balance somewhere. DnC will be here in May, and he will be able to hopefully assist me with listening for that. So, I will be working and upload another adjusted release or releases in the weeks ahead. Thanks so much for you're noticing this problem. Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |

...or perhaps a VST de-esser in spots maybe???
Anyone know of a good VST de-esser? That might be a cheat though, but perhaps not Here's are some other Pro's thoughts on the subject: http://www.studiorecordingengineer.com/ftopict-1507.html Your thoughts? Suggestions? VST de-essers??? I don't want to reduce the "presence" of the vocals. Thanks! This message has been edited. Last edited by: tepmix, Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |

OK, I'm going to try working with these, German designed:
http://www.digitalfishphones.com/main.php?item=2&subItem=5 Particularly the "Spitfish" de-esser. We'll see how it (they work out.) Anyone worked with these? Thoughts on them. Suck? Great? OK? Anything? Meanwhile, any other suggestions for similar VSTs would be appreciated. Thanks! Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |
