To our Jack2It listeners... In case you happen to tune in this weekend and hear something that typically is not aired on this station, allow me to explain why.

Earlier this year we lost one of our own to cancer. If any of you had the opportunity to interact with this person here on the forum then you know how much he will be missed. Sonny, aka DJ Spaceman, was only 27 years old when he lost his battle with cancer. Something that came as a huge shock to those who know him here.

If ever there was a person who would stop and take time out of his day to help one of us with anything, Sonny was that person. My earliest communication with Sonny was back in 2006 when I submitted a mix to Selector's Choice featuring all tracks performed (?) by that lovable, yet annoying, Crazy Frog. He had applauded me for having the, um, grapefruits to upload something like that. In fact he asked me to send him the mix. From there whenever I was stuck with something or had a question about the forum, Sonny was a simple PM away.

Sonny didn't post a great deal, but when he did you could always count on something worth reading. Especially if it was a post about a new Trance mix he just uploaded. Speaking of which, here is Sonny's first post... http://community.beatmixing.co...605445/m/9751064311?. Dang, his artwork was nice even back then. And for those who did not know, Sonny created the Jack2It logo you see here on the forum. Sonny had a knack for turning out some quality artwork which was something I always looked forward to.

Back in mid 2006 Sonny had a brilliant idea to put together a series of sets with that trancy club vibe. The series, rightfully named "Power Spin", was open to anyone who wanted to contribute. Another sign of what beatmixing.com is all about... community. Power Spin caught on with many listeners and DJ's and to date there have been 13 sets contributed to the series. Power Spin 14 is currently being wrapped up by Lisa (aka Sonny's Angel) which will feature Sonny's last work since his passing. Power Spin 15 is probably what you are listening to right now (or at least will be this coming weekend).

A few months ago I threw up the Spaceman signal in the sky and the response was amazing. 26 BeatMixing DJ's answered the call and expressed their willingness to be involved with this tribute mix. I gotta say that I was blown away everyday when I would either get a reply to a PM or email that I sent. Unfortunately, there were a couple of people who had to cancel out of the mix due to time constraints. But I would like to this opportunity to at least thank them for initially wanting to be involved... DnC & Ged-I... thanks for wanting to be a part of this tribute mix. Perhaps we can make this a yearly happening and you can get in on the next one.

So what's to come of the Power Spin series? Good question. I'll leave that up to a poll (only for fun). Check for the poll in the Translucent forum to place your vote.

Sonny will definitely be missed here on the forum. Power Spin 15 is our little way to let Sonny know that we will miss him and that he will never be forgotten.

To comment on the mix, please visit this post and leave your comments there.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

(here's a bit of info and eye candy to get you going)

The order of DJ appearance is listed in the below artwork (left side top to bottom, right side top to bottom). The mix is 8 hours long with 122 unique tracks and will be on constant rotation this weekend only. So try to catch it if you can. And please, if you can find a minute or 2 to drop a comment either about the mix or about Sonny please do so. Also, as you are listening to the mix you will hear the voice of a wonderful person who took a lot of time out of his day(s) to help with introducing each dj (dj drops). That man, who will hopefully make an appearance here soon, is DJ Alan. Alan, thank you so so much for helping make this mix more special that what it already was destined to be.
