There has been talk for many years that House Music is dead. If you search for the chats on the internet, you'll find them. Fortunately, I'm from Chicago, and we don't say that too much around here. Here, if someone chimes in and says "House is dead," generally they get a tongue lashing from someone who knows better. In the gay clubs here, when a DJ, who is inclined, decides to weigh the scale with too much hip-hop in a venue that is not known for such trends, that DJ is not long for his job. I remember being in one of my favorite gay venues here, that had always been for traditional house and house/dance, when a DJ decided to run the gamut with about 30 minutes of straight hip-hop--Well, the bar cleared out pretty damn quick. Haven't heard anything outside of the norm there since. That's not to say I don't appreciate Hip-Hop for what artistic merit it displays--it has a great deal to say about people and society--something that music, I believe, should do, and it does it well. However, Hip Hop's just just not my thing.

The great thing about House Music, in case you don't know, is that it has always survived because it is able to incorporate elements of all the musical genres--from Jazz, Rock, Classical to even Hip Hop--as part of itself. It owns them, and that's the great thing about it. I suspect that, despite the constant chattering about the "Death of House," that House Music will be here for many years to come.

Of course, I'm also a musical snob (in case you haven't figured that out yet!). I like traditional House Music, and it takes me a while to warm up to the trends. Lately, Electro House has become belligerently present amongst even the most notable and traditional House DJs, and it kind of make me crazy. However, recently, some of the great Chicago greats like Todd Terry have started to put out tracks regularly again, and that excites me. I do like Electro House in moderation, and I do find the most musically exceptional use of Electro in House Music to be quite exciting. But, sometimes I feel it goes to far--an endless assortment of Electro tracks in a House set leaves me feeling joyless and exhausted.

This is mostly a tribute to the traditions of deep, garage and progressive house music with all new tracks. The title, Transit from Paradise, has many meanings, the basic idea being a journey of descending from Heaven to Earth, followed in combination in the track titles, lyrics and style. However, it also takes its title from the old Paradise Garage in NYC in the sense that it, like its forbear, The Warehouse, in Chicago (where Frankie Knuckles made House Music famous) are both long departed musical temples--places where 4 to the floor started and began its 25 year evolution. House is still on a journey today, and that is what this set is all about--moving from the past to the present, from Heaven to Earth and back again, the whole time with House Music at one's side--ever present--encompassing and embracing every musical style as part of itself.

First: I have catched it about 00:10!

It sounds really good! In fact I´m also bored of club electro house, because it´s always according to the book! Always the same simple bass and some samples or freaky new recordings! Sorry - but it is so boring sometimes!

But this is more for faithful listening, and that is fine! I mean your dance - mixes have always the pretension to be exceeding! That´s good, or? It´s music for the adept listener, not so for the club heads!

However, I like your music!

Diggin' this Tim Big Grin

I especially like the ~10-minute groove you get into after the 2nd track .... wave after wave of joyful crescendos, then crashing it down to do it all over again ... and again
Club2

Sweet stuff indeed.
