Polymode: Total Time 59:37 Total Tracks 14, plus effects tracks
Polymode, or "many modes," describes this mix in two ways. First of all, the key relationships/modulations between tracks do not rely on traditional 18th century harmony, rather they progress consistently, especially at the beginning of the mix, in a series of P4 and A4 (tritone, the demon interval) relationships giving the mix its unique sound. Some of you may have heard this technique in use by DJs at some of the bigger city clubs, especially in the more sophisticated late-night lounges and music rooms. For more information on poly-chromaticism, read the Wikipedia article here: Polymodal Secondly, after the initial progression through these non-traditional P4 and A4 relationships, the mix transitions to the end via a series of half-step chromatic intervals (e.g. C, C#, D, D#) while at the same time implementing broad multi-track layering (2-4 tracks) to achieve the desired dramatic effect. The mix begins with a series of five Jazz and Jazz/Progressive House Instrumentals, through a series of three Jazz House Vocals and then finally culminating with the multi-track Electro/Progressive finale. This is quite different from any of the mixes currently in rotation. I really hope you enjoy! Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |

Hey Tim,
This sounds fascinating (the concept I mean ... I haven't checked the mix out yet). The theory is way beyond my (now rusty) musical schooling, but I might just have to check it out further Look forward to catching this set, and congrats. on joining Rook, Phreaq, and the rest of the team Neb. |

This is one beautiful set
The whole set is very smooth, and slides across the ears like ice-on-ice. Lovely transitions that keeps the flow smooooooooth. The 1st half is almost haunting. I don't claim to understand the "maths" behind the key progressions, but the effect is certainly special and utterly absorbing. And the shift-up a gear to the electro/prog. finish is slickly done. No jars. No jolts. 'Cos this set don't need it to make it's presence felt Stunning job, Tim .... thanks for sticking it rotation. This is definitely one of those "must listen to" sets currently on the stream. Neb. |
