I thought that during this holiday season, it would be a great thing to pay some tribute to those who have come before us on J2I who've had such an important impact on the formation and operation of this forum and beatmixing.com in general. Furthermore, we've decided to dedicate the current holiday rotation on J2I to these guys, as without them, we wouldn't have such a great group of talented and artistic DJs hangin' about these parts!

So, without any further hesistation, big thank you's and praise goes out to Ted Funklfox, Twisted Rook and phreaq for all the great work they've done here over the years! We'd like all of you to add your praise and tributes here. So, please leave them your warm wishes here by replying to this post.

Here's what some of our mods and hosts had to say:

MM_Aaron on Ted Funklfox:
quote:

Ted (or Travelfox as he was originally known) is the reason we are all here.
He dedicated himself to getting beatmixing.com off the ground and making it
succeed. He could also rock the house with his mixes.

I remember our first interaction via email went something like this:

TF: "You should really have a forum for users to hang out and share tips and
trick. If you need someone to do this I volunteer."

Me: "That's a great idea. When can you start?"

Put your glasses up to the godfather of beatmixing.com.

Mme. Fly continuing on Ted Funklfox:
quote:

Once the online presence was established, TF then set about turning visitors into community members ... he was welcoming, helpful and encouraging to everyone regardless of their intial skill level. He knew that MixMeister could make awesome digital DJs out of us and he had a vision that the forum would give us the means to encourage one another to greatness (or, at the very least, competence.) In short, he laid the foundation for the community we have today.

MM_Aaron on TRR:

quote:
Rook is a big Teddy Bear that everyone loves. He smiles at you all the way
through the Internet and gives you a warm feeling inside.

Nebulus on TRR:

quote:
Rook was the first guy to welcome me to beatmixing.com back in '05, pointing me in the right direction when I asked.
Always there, and for me epitomizes the positive enthusiasm and feeling behind beatmixing.com in general, and our beloved J2I in particular.
Keep on trucking, dude Wink
Cheers

Slip on TRR:

quote:
I might have to have a few drinks first to get in the mood Beer Razz Roll Eyes

plur on phreaq:

quote:
phreaqy-dee seems to always have the answer. throw something add and obscure at the forum and you'll probably find the phreaqster lending a hand and solving things. and the dude has great taste in music... gotta love Trooper!

Douglas on TRR:

quote:
Rook is straight up one of the most energetic people at beatmixing, always willing and ready to help and offer support and encouragement, with big fat ear to ear smile. From day one, much respect!

Plur on TRR:

quote:
(TRR) always knows when to bring the jokes to lighten the mood. More than that, he seems like a real down to earth guy... even for a pirate Wink

Cheers Here's to you buddy!

Tepmix on TRR:

quote:
TRR has been a big inspiration to me since I started hangin' round. First of all, he is a brilliant house musician--his artistry is of the highest professional caliber and his musical taste is exceptional. Second, he's fun and warm and encouraging, a great example to us all.

Tepmix on Ted Funklfox and phreaq:

quote:
All of what I know about TF is anecdotal and historical, but when I look around this forum, I see his mark everywhere and I think that we all have a lot to thank him for in terms of having such a great place to share and participate. phreaq had gotten busy with life matter about the time I came in (a wedding I understand--whoopdy do!), but I've recently grown to appreciate his artistry--he's got a new set on J2I right now. Hope to get to know him better as we go forward.
