I'm looking for a plugin that get a echo effect on a piece of a song. This echo effect must continue while the rest of the song is playing.
Let me clarify this with the famous Queen song "I want to break free". Here you have a piece of its lyrics:
---------------------------------------
I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies
Youre so self satisfied I don't need you
Ive got to break free
God knows God knows I want to break free
.....
.....
---------------------------------------
I would like, for example, set in echo mode the word "free" at the end of the above second line (or in another piece of the song) so when the song continues I could continue earing "...free..free. free.. free.." in the song.

I have listened this effect in many radio bradcastings but I'm not sure how they produce this effect, and I'm not sure if there is a VST Mixmeister compatible software.

Any help is welcome.

That would be a delay effect.

Most decent delay effect plug-ins are tempo aware so you can set the delay to repeat (and tweak it so it's fades out after a certain time period should you wish) matching the 'echo' to the beat. There are loads of free ones available on the net, legally (don't be naughty!), depending on your setup, PC or Mac.

Hope that helps,

Please point us in the right direction because I have never been able to find a VST plugin that does just that.

@hcova, I helped to develop this exact effect for vDJ which I use in live gigs. I wish I could find it for MM. It is very cool and makes for nice transitions from one song to another.

The only thing I have seen requires you to tap 1st in order to set the right bpm... this is especially true for hardware mixers such as Numark's "beat-aware" FX mixer. They claim "beat-aware", but then you have to do this time wasting tapping to get the bpms set for the FX.

Since bpm is already ultra in MM, this should be easy for any VST Delay effect to pull off.

Please point us in the right direction Tobes if you know where these VSTs are.

I would make a loop & gradually bring in a reverb or echo as it continues.

I did this with just camelspace + loops

Try RetroDelay, it's free and bpm syncs to the host - http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/retrodelay.php

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the links Tobes! It actually led me to more useful VSTs at http://free-plugin-list.com

I found DEELAY at http://karmafx.net/ to be more useful and simpler to use than the one you suggested.

Although it gives the FX we talk about here, I wish it was a little easier to implement. Meaning, every time I get the urge to use the FX I have to tweak the knobs. DEELAY lacks presets, so makes it a pain to set each time.

Played with it some more and found that while the onbroard NewBlue Delay is similar, DeeLay has more flexibility and sounds fatter.

I wondered if you guys found tho that it would be better if the FX was able to only affect # of BEATS SAMPLE rather than continuing to FX each new BEAT measure.

I know it sounds a little confusing, but I am comparing to the similar FX on VirtualDJ where it 1st takes a sample of the number of BEATS you preset (Beat Measure) then performs the delay on that sample only ..continuing for the Feedback length. This way new samples are not being taken from the source and interfering with the FX that is still in effect. (more confusing?) sorry.

But if any of you understand what I am saying, please comment.

I will post some examples when I get time.
