This is a Mix I've been meaning to do for quite a while now ... but somehow I never took the time to accomplish it. So I'm quite grateful that it felt natural this time to mix '80 stuff.

What helped me was a collection of tunes from that time that came in a box titled "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Yes, this mix consists of those tracks that you would hear if you hitched a ride (now is "hitched" the right term??? Wink) in Vice City.

I probably should mention though that this particular mix blends titles from all the different radio stations in Vice City. You will therefore find yourself dragged from Hip Hop to Rock to Wave to Disco to Pop and back again. Also, there's no ultra complex mixing contained ... I hammered the mix together in something like six hours and came out just above the 60 mins mark. Artists included are, among others, Animotion, Davy DMX, Evelyn King, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Hall & Oates, Yes, Michael Jackson, Spandau Ballet, Tears for Fears, Wang Chung.

Once more, I hope you dig.

what do you mean was? He's still doing the rounds playing live with sets that mix all sorts of (self penned) EDM Mixed with soundtrack/soundscape type tunes - it's all carried off in a (nearly) non-stop show that is reminiscent of a DJ set.

(advance apologies to Moto for hijacking the thread Wink)

I heard he was also making a mint off ringtones.

I saw Thos Dolby once in DC where he & band gave a really excellent performance ... but the bit that stays with me is that he had a hot-looking keyboardist dressed to the nines ... high heels, eye-catching dress, long hair. At some point though, a couple of us noticed that the hands and shoulders were out-of-proportion large on this femme fatale and the way she stood in those high heels suggested she didn't spend a lot of time in shoes like that ... we spent the rest of the set trying to figure out whether or not this was actually a guy or a gal. I think we asked the promoter after the show and found out it was a guy....

I got something for your mind, your body and your soul.

Yeah, it's me ... Smile

No jazz, no special tracks in this one (except, of course, Missing You by John Waite Razz) ... just a "plain" 80s mix ... glad you liked it ... will probably have another 80s submission ready in the near future ...

Best

This week I have late shift again. When I arise this morning I tune at first in to "beatmixing.com". What do
I see? Tom´s mix "Passing Vice City" is broadcasting again, now from the very beginning! So I tune in and listen to the whole mix.

Great mix with fine music from the 80´s, witty and clever mixed. Congratulations! I really have enjoyed it!

Regards,
Holger.
