The title says it all! This set features classic pop from 1981 - 1988. There are 16 songs, including Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor, Fame by Irene Cara, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper and Vienna by Ultravox...

During some of the transitions there are snippets from an old 80s BBC report about the launch of the Compact Disc...

I hope you enjoy the set! Smile

Added to rotation and sounding good so far Jay! - Lovin' the use of the 'drop-in' about CDs.

Only transition that sounded a *bit* jarring to me was the cut between Vienna and Take On Me, it was a huge jump in BPM's and (even with the overlay) it was very much Tune A¦Tune B with no audible overlap or join - was this intended?

As a complete contrast the transition into the next tune (Holding Back The Years) was very, very clever taking the bpm down drastically but with a smooth feel to it.

Got to say I love this Mix & it's good to hear someone else's take on the 80's and how to Mix some tunes that in some cases are almost unmixable!

Looking forward to Vol. 2!

Thanks Evo, and thanks Wildr for the comments, I'm pleased you liked the set.

I agree about the transition between Vienna and Take On Me, I had some trouble with it, and I wasn't sure it worked. I'm working on a fix now and also the last transition I wasn't sure about (into Under Pressure) so I'll fix that as well. Smile

Is this part of the Time Life series I can order on the television? Kind of like Freedom Rock?

Ok all, Jay has remixed this set and I'm sure he'd appreciate some feedback!

Jay - I'll give it a listen after the weekend and let you know my thoughts if you're interested.

Good work with this songs. When I hear this 80s songs I´m really happy.

I tell you something: Before I had my Mixmeister Studio 7 I had worked very hard to get my CD´s and Lp´s on hard disk and to convert in 192 kbs - mp3s. In the meantime I have about 10.000 songs (!!!) there. But there were still CD´s, Singles and LP´s. When I here this mix I have lust to create a mix with the good old songs.

Jay El, look also in the message of my "Best of Harddance - DJs 2007" in "Translucent".

All the best,
Holger.

About 00:24 and before:
O boy, I hear trainwrecks, cause the BPMs of the songs are too afar away. This is the trouble, I have analysed
many of my songs, but you find seldom a song with the akin BPM, harmonic key and style. In mixing is Roy, Wildr, my alone hero. How he mixes styles, BPMs and keys together is applaudable.

However the tracks of this mix are fine and the work is also even not bad.

About 00:36 : Again a lighter train. Perhaps you have raise the speed of the fade in song impalpable over the
whole song.

All the best,
Holger.

Thanks for listening Holger, I always welcome constructive criticism.....I made sure all of the tracks were beat matched correctly using the song slicer and the transition you mention at 00:24 Wildr says...

I can only think that the infamous submit tool has messed up the transition. Thanks for pointing it out, I will upload it again Smile

I don´t want to glorify wildr, I admire his great style to tune into the songs. Roy is always open for criticism like you, that I know. I get to know him here as a very kind and correct man. I don´t want to hurt
anyone, I´m just a man who admires good DJs like another admires a Formula 1 - driver or a football - player.
I´m a DJ too, but I want to get better and better. So I´m also open for criticism. I LOVE BEATMIXING.COM.

For me is a good tune into a song, when you hear generally none Speed - change, no disharmonic because of the
keys and when it´s witty besides, than it is for me perfect. That is only my opinion. Maybe you do another style, than I´m very sorry to criticise you. Perhaps it´s yet the "infamous submit tool", beyond that I have had heard. That I cannot appraise.

Best regards to you,
Holger.

This morning I was fancy to hear the good old 80´s, and so I have heard your old work again.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhh! The 80´s were a well time!
Now that I have more and more DJ experience, I must say: Good overlay and mix - work with the different songs!
Fine, fine, fine!

Also a cool artwork with the CD above! Wow!

Bummer, that "selector´s coice" has become such a stepchild. Why?
