Thanks for getting us going here, Wildr
Mo'FLY, as noted, is Moto and MmeFLY, two downtempo headz who've admired one another's mixes recently ... the release of Fusion (or, in our case, Studio7) gave us added incentive to collaborate on a tagteam mix. Moto set the pace, opening with a block of tracks/overlays and that is how we continued, although we had license to insert elements into one another's blocks, add overlays, etc., as we felt was needed. Typically for a downtempo set, the music is pulled from all across the spectrum: Abstract tracks from Aphex Twin, SinQ, Cujo, Plaid; rock-tinged work from The Aloof and Digital Cutup Lounge; funk from Tim "Love" Lee, King Kooba, Projections and Greyboy; the Latin-inflected sound of Ricochet, Frederico Aubele and Thievery Corp's remix of Astrud Gilberto; and the iconic DT joint Autumn Leaves (Irresistable Force Mix Trip 2) from Coldcut ... and that's only about half of it At first, I was primarily interested in tackling Studio7 and learning how to use it, but by the time we were halfway thru, all I really cared about was the music and the flow. As I mentioned to Moto, it was like an "other dimensional" chess game, one where the energy comes from cooperation rather than from competition. Headphones Alert! I highly recommend headphones for this one, if you can, for picking up the subtlety and textural complexity of both the tracks and the transitions. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

Well, now that the applause finally is diminishing
First of all, I've enjoyed working on this tag-team a lot. Starting out as a joint learning effort, it quickly developed into a kind of mutual musical pollination that spured a very special energy as mentioned by MmeFLY. And as this is the first finished tag-team I've had the honour of contributing to, I feel compelled to add that I'm particularly pleased with the outcome Finally, I hope that you will enjoy listening to A Little Something as much as I enjoyed working on it (headphones might indeed help), and that it will take your mind and soul to some beautiful places. free your ears and your mind will follow... |
