Hey, POL, I'm not sure how you've missed it (considering the huge amount of posts on the Forum) but "version 7", which is known as Fusion and or Studio 7, has been out for over a year. You can read more about it HERE.
Pro 6 morphed into Fusion, which is a substantially different program in many important respects. There is no "version 7" that looks and acts the same as Pro 6 did ... and Pro 6 is no longer for sale. The same is basically true for Studio also. HTH I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

POL, take a look at this page.
Notice how there is no product called "MixMeister Express Pro 6"? You have posted in the Pro 6 forum; Pro 6 is no longer for sale (not even by me If your question is about MixMeister Express, then we should move your post to the Express Forum. I do not use Express, but as far as I know, the interface is very different between Fusion and Express. If you view some of the video tutorials which are available here, then you can see for yourself how different the interface is. The interface is different, therefore the way you would use the program to mix is different also. If you are happy with Express, maybe you will want to stick with that. You can download the Fusion demo and find out. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

May I hijack this thread and inquire if a MixMeister Express 7 is likely to be released any time soon (or ever)?
In my personal opinion it would be really sad if the Express variant of MixMeister should be discontinued. |

Eastwood,
This is how versioning and releases are handled by Mixmeister. In explaining this, I'll compare it to MS Windows product divisions, as the versioning and release scheme is similar. For example, with Windows XP there are 4 editions: Windows XP Professional Corporate Edition --This is released with a single license bulk license key that in installed and activated on every PC in a single corporate environment Windows XP Professional Retail, OEM and Manufacturer edition --This is released with a single, per PC license key unique and specific to every PC it is installed upon. Windows XP Home Retail, OEM and Manufacturer edition --This is released with a single, per PC license key unique and specific to every PC it is installed upon. Windows XP Media Center Retail, OEM and Manufacturer edition --This is released with a single, per PC license key unique and specific to every PC it is installed upon. In both of the Windows XP Professional Editions noted above, the features of the software are identical--every feature of Windows XP is activated and available in the Professional Editions of Windows XP. In the Home and Media Center editions, certain elements/features that are present in the Professional Edition are not present in the Home and Media Center editions of the software, namely those are "stripped-out" of the distribution--e.g. made non-functional. The pricing for the Pro Edition of XP is therefore higher than for the Home and Media Center XP editions, even though the core software is exactly the same. This is how Microsoft sets up its pricing and distribution model. Vista has now come out with even more breakdowns in product, from full-inclusive to stripped down, with pricing reflecting these differences, but the model is the same. Now, in terms of MM Fusion/Studio 7 products, the breakdown is similar, as it was for the MM "6" series of the software which included MMPro 6 with video, MMStudio 6 and MM Express 6--3 versions of the product, with the top version having the most features and being the highest priced (MM Pro6). Studio 6 is the same as Pro 6 with features stripped out, and therefore less expensive. Express 6 has even more features stripped out than Studio, and therefore cost the least. With Fusion/Studio 7 products (the "7" series of the product line), Fusion without video is the core product, Studio 7 is the second, slightly-stripped down product (without the "live" dual-channel performance features), and Fusion+video has now been separated out additional to become the 3rd of the core, top-line products. Also, additional Fusion has now been ported to Mac OSX, another new division of the core product line. So currently in versioning we are here: On IBM x86 PC platform: Fusion--Version 7.2.2 Studio 7--Version 7.2.2 Fusion+Video--Version 7.1.1 Express --Version 6.1.3 On Mac OS X Fusion--Version 7.2.3 Studio 7--Version 7.2.3 Fusion+Video (is this available on the Mac Platform yet??? Possibly not) In conclusion, Express is the final priority in the release list for the newest product lines. The reason for this is because the developers must focus their attentions on the core products first and perfect them before releasing the less expensive, "stripped down" final versions of the lesser products, the least of which is the much simplified "Express" edition. However, based on customer demand, we do expect to see a release of MM Express 7 in the future, although we do not have any sort of timeframe that we can give you. It all depends on the current development states of the other focal products in line above it, and how that development is progressing. However, if and when Express 7 comes, it will almost undoubtedly be the final release in the 7 series product line. It is the "bargain" price product in the entire business model, so it comes last. Meanwhile Express 6 is still currently being sold and fully supported. However, if you are angling for the new features of the 7 series, I would suggest to you that you get on the ball, and upgrade from Express 6 to Studio 7, which will give you an upgrade discount of $50 off the full price of Studio 7. So, instead of $199.95, upgrading from Express 6 to Studio 7 will only cost you $149.95. For the moment, that is your least expensive option to get to the 7 series of the software. Otherwise you will have to continue to wait for the final release of an Express version of 7, if and when it comes. As I said, it takes final priority over all the other versions of the software, in terms of release schedule. This is the reality, and I hope you understand the important details as to why this is the way it is. Thanks much! Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |
