Not sure if "voice over" is the right name for it, but is it possible to add a voice over mentioning my name to a mix? I'm guessing I would need to add it as an overlay track but how would I do it? I use MM Studio 7. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are asking when you say

Yes, you would add it as an overlay track. The program Help files cover how you make a track an overlay (CTRL+drag track onto timeline -- or add track to playlist, right-click and Adjust Track, choose Overlay). Or are you asking how you record your voice over?

Confused

Yes, I meant to ask how to go about the whole process (record the voice over and turn it into an overlay track). I apologize for the poor wording Shame and thanks for responding.

No problem, I just didn't want to be answering the wrong question...

Well, it helps to let us know what computer you are working on ... now that MixMeister supports Mac users, it probably is good to note that in a question ... I'm going to assume you are a Windows/PC user, and that you know there is a built-in sound recorder in Windows, and that you have a mic attached to your PC. In which case, you should have the basics needed for a recording as simple as saying your own name for an overlay.

That said, I should point out tht I've never had huge luck in recording via the built-in's in Windows ... due, I suspect, to something arcane like an audio driver conflict. But in theory, it is pretty straightforward:
--Open up the recorder and check the settings (in XP, Sound Recorder and Audio Controls are located via START>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment.)
--Start the recorder, speak into the mic, stop the recorder. Note where the file is saved on your hard drive.
--Import the file into MM and use it like any other track.

And, as mentioned before, the MM Help file tells all about working with overlays, so there's no need for me to retype all that info.

If you run into trouble with the recording part, post again and be very specific about what you did and what the results were -- that's how to get useful help.

Good luck Smile

Thanks for the tips! It worked out and I'm having a blast playing with the MM effects on the voice overs I've recorded!

Glad to hear that worked out ...

I also understand that there are some applets out there that will let you create IDs in a "robot" voice or a British accented voice, etc. ... Sorry, I don't know what they're called but presumably you can find such things using Google....
