Hey. I'm doing some video DJing and have a few questions.
I am currently ripping music videos from video DJ DVDs using TMPGEnc. I am then using Mixmeister 6 Pro to mix together videos. The videos are being played back on a PC with 2.3GHz dual-core processor, GeForce 7300 video card, and 2GB RAM. I am encoding the videos as MPEG-1s and have also tried MPEG-2s. However, the video tends to hang up a bit (usually for several seconds while the videos blend together in Mixmeister.

I want my videos to be decent to high quality and my video transitions to be smooth. Since there are a ton of variables here, I'll ask:
1. Which version of Mixmeister handles videos best? I'm actually trying to avoid Fusion because of its interface.
2. Does anyone have suggestions for a ripping program besides TMPGEnc, or is that adequate?
3. Which format do you think would be best for video DJing: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or other?
4. What specifications should I use for video ripping? Variable or constant bitrate? I assume variable since I'm tyring to cut down on file size to hopefully make it run a little smoother. Actual Bitrate? Frame Rate? I assume I should stick with 29.97 here.

And any other help you guys could give would be great.
