Sup every1 well just being abit lazy but how to i change the tempo when using the beat mix option cos there like 3 or 4 boxes for that song so how do I KNOW witch one to speed up or speed down with basic mixing its easier as there on 2 for each song one box at the start and one at the end.. Also can some 1 xplain what overlays do and stuff and how to do them is it just overlaying a beat on top of aother.. and can i do an overlay when using beat mixing turned on ? And when spilting up tracks how come when i try to move them my whole mix moves along with it or shifts out of beat and im trying to place the spilt part in there? Btw i was just looking at the post basic mixing with reverse when he was mixing he was in standard mode then all of a sudden it changed to like beat mixing was turned on how does he do that cos sometimes my beats r off and it would be cool to move each individual bass or snare across so that they r aligned can some 1 tell me if this is possible looking at that tutorial it looked like he was doing it. im using mixmeister pro 4 is that just a pro 5 thing thx for the help peeps [This message was edited by vr4racer on AUG 06, 2003 at 22:05.]

1) You can right mouse a box and change the bpm value. Or you can right mouse the song in the timeline or the playlist area. Go to properties and change the tempo of the song.
But what I think you are trying to do is to beatmix two songs, right? Just let the beatmixing ranges overlap at the end of one song and the beginning of the other song. Beatmix range are those red thick lines underneath the beginning of a song and the above the ending of the other. Match the peaks and valleys of the two tracks and you should find out that they will beatmix.
2) Overlays are like adding another beat, sample, effect to a track. Let's say you have an instrumental beat as the primary and you want to overlay the acapella to it. The overlay in this case will be the acapella.
3) Yes once you master the vertical red sprockets and understand the red beatmixing ranges. You will be able to figure out how to synch your music and do more tricks.
4) Yes, only the reverse function is available only in Pro 5. But everything else you heard could be done in Pro4.
Let me know if you have more questions. And welcome to the MixMeister forum.

I'd add a couple of things to Andre's great explaination.
1) Changing the BPM of the song in the Catalog or Playlist will change the default tempo of the song. For example, if a downtempo song is calculated to have a 160+ BPM when it's actually closer to half of it. This is when you really want to change the song's Catalog/Playlist BPM; to avoid the Outro song's radical tempo acceleration during the BeatMix.
But, Andre is right, in the Timeline, the Tempo markers can be moved with the mouse or by "keying in" the desired value from the Tempo Marker's right click Edit menu.
2) The two things to remember about Overlays are this: a) Overlays are NOT counted as a track when Exporting a Playlist as mixed wave files or when creating a CD-R and b) the of an Overlay is adjusted all at once instead on a 2 or 4 point basis. For example, when you stretch an Overlay you slow the tempo of the entire Overlay.
Keep us posted of your progress.

Okay, you want to learn how to change from standard mixing mode to beatmixing mode?
1) Drag a song from the Catalog window to the Playlist window.
2) Either on the Timeline or in the Playlist areas. Right click the song and select Beat Mixing. Or CTRL+B for beat mixing.
3) If you wish to put it back as a standard mix. Right click the song and select Standard Mixing. Or CTRL+T for standard mixing.
Tip: To really get the hang of this. I'd recommend to use songs that are from the genre of house, trance, or instrumental beats. This way you can have MM do it's magic and see how it's done automatically.
Once you get the hang of it. Then you can then explore and tackle more complex beats like (Disco, Funk, Hip-Hop, Latin, Rock, and CW) and make manual adjustments with MM. Okay?

Another tip I usually give for getting use to BeatMixing is to create a Playlist is a couple of copies of the same song in it. Then, play around with the different settings, different places in the songs to mix. You know, to get use to the software functions and the resultants.
Let us know how it goes.

It all comes down to that some users can figure things out quicker than others. While others will probably take a lifetime to figure out other things. Keep in mind that not everyone approaches mixing the same way. To prove my point, my older brothers were never able to figure out how to solve the Rubik's Cube. And I was able to figure it out in a matter of weeks back in the early 80's. I thought that Douglas tutorial was an excellent demonstration. Maybe some ppl will learn a new thing, maybe others will see it as a normal procedure with the program. It really comes down to how much creativity you really have. I am always ready to help some one figure out MM. "Rocking the House with MMPro-5!!"

Well i guess we all have our ways of mixing like i said im not having trouble mixing 2 songs cos if u ever listen to my mixes they r all good its just that its always good to learn some new techniques that all.
Btw with that cube didnt take me a matter of weeks but a matter of hours so yea ur right people learn at different rates!

Yeah, I also solved the Rubik's Cube within 2 minutes by breaking it apart and then reassembling it! "Rocking the House with MMPro-5!!"

Sorry about the subtle diss; it was not intentional. Sometimes I just read things quickly without really "reading" 'em.
Here's something you may not have tried: BeatMixed Overlays. They're subtle in how they work, but you can actually synch them to the primary track. I've used the BeatMix Overlay to insert a song in the middle of another so as to not mess up or have to recreate all of the chopped-up segments at the beginning of the mix.
BTW, 3000GT or Galant?

Could someone tell me if its possible to filter out the beat so that it sounds like an acapella? Been doing this through another program and wasnt too sure if you can do this through mixmeister?
I have MMP6.
Cheers..

I think there's a thread on making an acapella somewhere here, but the basics were: get the instrumental part on which the vocal is played, put it on audacity, get the vocal+instrumental part, and do something like making one of them the opposite to the other, so the instruments will be cancelled, but not the vocals.
