What's poppin' All Mixxed Up listeners,

If all goes good, my first mix using MixMeister will be added to the schedule soon.

I first created this mix in 2004 using vinyl / Pro Tools / T-Racks for promotional purposes. This version was created using Mixmeister / Serato / Pro Tools / T-Racks all on a PC and Mac. After about 40 total hours over a period of about a month the mix has been finished. Unfortunately, the new version has been edited for language.

There are 39 primary tracks and about 100 overlays (edits/blends/scratches/acapellas/instrumentals). The mix length is 1hr 13min 33sec. Some of the artists I used are Bishop Lamont / DJ Quik / Kanye West / Tony Yayo / Jay-Z / Tazz / Dr. Dre / The Game / Xzibit / AC/DC / East Flatbush Project / LL Cool J / N.W.A.... just to name a few.

Since this is my first time using MixMeister, I value all feedback to guide me through my next mix. Kevin, thanks again for your patience with me while taking over your decks and pc. I still want my Serato back!

Julio

i was lucky enough to preview this mix already... and for a first set using mm, this mix is impressive. im going to leave it up to julio if he wants to explain exactly how this was laid out... but i wouldnt expect he will. i will say that he looked past the mm product to enhance this mix with what he already explained.

julio, you never cease to amaze me with your style. keep them mixes coming. mi casa es su casa... more importantly, mi pc es su pc.

I too have previewed this one. (Not my style of music) But I had heard a little rumor that the production value and time spent on this was well worth the listen....and what I was told is not what I expected.

It was soooo much more.

From start to finish, this was an amazing set. Every inch of it was a solid fondation that kept building and building on itself. Julio, your overlays, dude.....your overlays made this all that and so much more. You incorporate live scratching on a recorded and set and are able to get them lined exactly back where you wanted them.

Please, please, please..... don't be a stranger. This is an amazing ride that definitely needs to see a sibling down the road.

Welcome to the boards and to AMU.

Slip....Douglas....have fun with this one.

DnC, thanks for the comments. I had fun figuring out the program. Even though I had already created the mix 3 years ago, there were still challenges with incorporating everything into MixMeister. My biggest issue was learning how the sprockets worked. Once I got that down everything else sort of fell into place. Now don't let those comments appear as if this was a piece of cake, because it wasn't. As with any mix I create, first comes the lay out. Think about what you want the first two tracks to sound like. Once you have that thought out move on to how you want the third track to play out, etc, etc. Once you have a mental note of how everything should sound the process of building the mix should flow in the right direction. Of course, there are always exceptions (changing up tracks, adding effects). If you have thought out the mix ahead time, 9 out 10 times you will end up with a solid mix.

Kevin is already pushing me to recreate another mix I did that caught a few ears. I want to wait and see if this is something I really want to do before going into more detail. I'll say this, it is the complete opposite of Diversity Training but with the same style.

So, DnC called me this morning and told me to tune in to AMU and this is what I find! What an amazing set. The layers, the drops and the mixes...all beautifully seamed into itself. A true gem! I am about 38 minutes into it right now and I am loving it! A must listen for all hip hop and beatmixing fans!
