Hi,
I recently played a rather long mix live and after an hour or so the preview controls went non responsive. First I thought that this is because of the crappy mouse, but the mouse worked well anywhere in MM except the Preview controls - stop, pause & play. There were no effect on the playback, tho - I just cant preview the next song and so on. I had to click many, many times to stop or play the preview. Does anyone have a workaround for this nasty bug. The second audio device I'm using on my Compaq Presario 2100 Laptop is SoundBlaster Live24 USB External. First I thought that this could be a problem with my rather not-so-new laptop , but after reading this http://community.beatmixing.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/586106173/m/573108318 post, I think the problem is in MM. Does anyone have same experience - and what (if any) workaround has been found. I will be eternally grateful. |

I've never experienced that problem but next time it happens you may want to try minimizing the program all the way so its in the toolbar of the desktop, then maximize again. It clears any built up memory that way, it may help... Before you do that, open your Task Manager and check out the difference before and after under Processes in Mem Usage.

Thanks indeed, Steven!!! I tried to reconstruct the problem and as usual, the damn thing won't repeat that problem again!!! I left my laptop to play for over 2 & half hours and there were no problem with preview controls...and I'm sure it will happen the first time when I go live...maybe I didn't reconstructed the problem EXACTLY, as the screensaver turned on few times during the playback - this is the only difference...I will keep my fingers crossed when I'm playing live

Have you had your serotonin surge today? |
Just a word about screensavers -- they are worthless users of your computer's resources, and not really something you need to have running in the background.
Given the level of CRT-type monitor technology back in the 90s, screensavers were meant to guard against burn-in (an afterimage on the screen that occurred when something like the desktop was left on for long periods of time.) But one year in computers is like 10 years in real life, and monitor technology had advanced to the point where it no longer requires a screensaver running ... now all the screensaver does is eat up resources. Consider turning it off ... I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |
