Up until recently mixmeister was my perfect BPM/KEY detection tool.

now that strangest thing is happenin. even in demo versions of the software. as SOON as the program opens. from versions 6.1.3 thro to the oldest. my entire windows will lock up. freezing, requiring a re start.

now i'v used registry doctors, spyware cleaners and anti virus programs which have cost a pretty penny on top of the rest, im now newbie to pc's but this is one problem leaving me stumped. ive realised even bpm anayliser or express 6 will work fine.

but just the pro version. full or demo will actually freeze me up quicker than a world cup headbutt from zidane.

can anyone help. shed some insight, perhaps relevant stories of the same virus, problem?

im guessing its some deep seeded trojan that locks up my shit on execution of the soft ware but either way its tragic. please help.

thank u.

Have you recently installed any new DirectX filters?

Have you changed any of the settings in your Options dialog immediately before these problems occurred?

I know it isn't Pro6, but I had a problem when I first installed Fusion. I thought I'd be clever, and rather than locating all my VSTs into one directory, I set the VST path as C:\ and let Fusion figure it out for itself. Big mistake. Fusion went crazy on startup, eventually hanging.

The solution in this case was (a) don't make stupid decisions when the product asks for the VST directory, and (b) find and edit the registry setting, changing it to a more suitable value.

Perhaps you've done something with similar consequences.

thanks for replying sir.

i didnt change any options nor installed direct x filters.

i think perhaps a virus specifically targeting mixmeister was inadvertedly installed along with a demo version of the software. i have been a pretty loyal customer.suer of the software. and i know its not its not the software in itself. but with it being so blantantly a problem only arising as mix meister opens, i know somehow theres something sinister at work.

i know these things can be a needle in a haystack at times. but if anyone has specific advice or solutions id be forever grateful. keep in mind i cant actually open the program to change preferences/options due to the fact it just locks up windows!

and again express 6 is working fine, as was mp3 analyser. i basically use it only from bpm and key detection. the two ive mentioned provide the bpm analyser but not the batch key detection. so also if anyone knows of a alternative that can provide such a thing, very appreciated.

ideally but, getting my 6.1.3 mixmeister pro to work would be excellent.

thank u.

It's entirely unlikely that this is the case with a legit copy of Mixmeister, there is a spate of malware in the marketplace at present that acts in a similar way to what you are describing - links to a particular program, runs when that program does and eventually slows everything to a stop.

I think your best option (given that you don't seem to know what the malware is or where it's hiding), is to boot into your computer using safe mode, capture any files that you absolutely cannot do without onto disc or some other form of backup - however DO NOT capture executable files.

Once you have these secure elsewhere then you need to reformat your drive & rebuild your system from the ground up.

This may seem extreme, however I have been infected twice in the past 3 months (hidden scripts within files, and from a website), and despite my better halfs expert skills with PC's, and trawling other forums, knowledge base sites & using several forms of ad block, spyware killer & anti Virus software, we were unable to totally rid the system until we nuked it!

Once you've formatted, and reinstalled your O/S and other files install a clean, legal version of MM (I.E. from a disc or download provided by Mixmeister LLC or other reputable source).

Then before going any further take a back up of your system if possible - this way you've not got to rebuild everything again - good luck!

Wait...before you go that route try one thing first...: Uninstall MMPro6 and Re-install it. It's quite possible that the executable file could have been corrupted by any number of reasons, thereby causing the freezing (the fact that both the demo and full version share the same directories and engines would indicate a problem in one of their primary files). If you try this and it still freezes up, then go right ahead and follow Wildr's excellent advice.
