Does anyone else have the problem of dead-spots during live playback mode? I will be performing at a gig and the song that is playing to the audience will just go dead for a couple seconds and then resume playing. This really sucks! It doesn't happen everytime but it does happen. I don;t have any other program open and internet connections are dissabled. Your thoughts???
Is it something that always happens to a particular track or set of tracks? If so, it's possible they're somewhat corrupt. Otherwise... what all else is running on the PC? It could be that you're running out of RAM or system processes at that point in time.

Files are not corrupt, I ripped them myself and they play fine with other software. No other programs are running when I play LIVE. I will check out that thread. Thanks.
Sometimes, when ripping a track, over cpu usage or other problem can cause small errors in the encoding. This is what i call NAFF (When I notice a track like this, I tag it with the word NAFF then I can re-rip when I have time.
And, Yes, try sliding to reliable in your audio preferences. If you still have problems, try direct sound as well.
Another trick I use when I'm using my pc for something else (or it decides to... ) - I fire up task manager and set MMpro to have 'above normal' priority.

i have had this happen, tho not for a few months, but yes, seconds of slience during a track. and there's nothing wrong with the tracks, they play through perfectly next time around. i noticed MM was very sluggish after the last time it happened, the time line would freeze, (i mean stop, and i'd get a thick black line when it carried on) i'd click the preview button for headphones, and nothin, i had to double click it,to get it to play, and a click sound would come outta the PA system made me very panicky, as i was 2 hours into a 5 hour set. the silence happened about 3 times that night, and after the last glare from the boss (i'd later say it was the mixers fault

I had a drop off tonight while playing LIVE at a wedding so I guess I'll be taking MM up on their 30 day satisfaction or your money-back guarantee... I'm not impressed...
Steve, what settings were you running in the Advanced Audio Settings dialog? What is your sound card configuration?
I can force a drop out using the Wave setting by scrolling back and forth like a madman, especially when the View|ShowPerformedTracks option is selected.
When I switched to the ASIO driver, and increased the buffer size in my sound card, I've not been able to reproduce this problem.

I believe we may finally understand this problem that only affects WaveOutput on certain machine configurations. It has to do with what gets priority when the system is under heavy load. When there is insufficient CPU, MixMeister may not have the opportunity to prepare the audio for playback. In situations where there is always ample CPU, there won't be an issue.
For best results, Pro 6 users should select DirectSound in the Advanced section of the Audio Output Configuration. This is an alternative way to talk to the sound card.
We'll fix this issue in Pro 6 in the next update. In the meantime, we want to know if DirectSound provides the performance you need.

Thanks for the information.
Aaron, I am glad to see that there will be in update to Pro 6 and I am also glad to see that the audio dropouts could possibly be resolved.
On your statement about ample CPU, I find that interesting and will keep a sharp eye out. My machine is top of the line and I only use it for hangling Mixmeister, no internet, no other apps, no plugins (I use external equipment for my effects and such) and I still get the dropout so I am very anxious to try it out when you have it.
I'm not sure how it can be a sound-card issue since my sound-card works perfect with all of my other programs... I was keeping an eye on cpu usage with the task manager window and was never using hardly any of its power, so it can't be that. No internet, no anti-virus, no other programs open. I have it set to the default WAVE setting with the reliability / responsiveness slider also set to default. When I was using my buddy's laptop with an older version of MM PRO 6.0.3, I tried the DIRECT SOUND option and experienced the same issues. I have another wedding today, yeah, on a Monday... I will try DIRECT SOUND again. I only have a week or 10 days left to return the program so I don't think I'll be able to wait for the update and don't want to get stuck with unreliable software that cost close to $300.00. I can always re-purchase once the update is done. If I could receive something in writing stating that I could still get my money back in a month if the update / fix isn't done. I think I would be OK with that.
There are other issues too that MM is aware of, that are flaws that need to be fixed. If you double-click to preview a song in the library, you hear the last song that was in that same spot. For example, if you search for Love Shack and that is the only song that comes up, if you do another search for say Mony Mony and click on the first line of the catalog window again, even though you are supposed to hear Mony Mony or whatever song is appearing on that first line, you will still hear Love Shack. To get MM to play the right song in your headphones, you have to chop a letter or two off your search so that Mony Mony is now on the second or third line, then when you double click on it you will hear the correct song. This bugs the heck out of all of us…
I love the program but when you are using it in a professional LIVE setting, you need 'flawless' performance, not 'flawed performance'... It makes me look like an incompetent DJ...
I used it tonight set to 'Direct Sound' with the reliability / responsiveness slider set to default and it worked fine, no drop offs and no stuttering. We'll see what happens on Thursday night at my next gig...
Aaron, will we be still getting a bug fix update? The one that irks me is when you click in the same position to preview a song in the library, you will hear the last song that was in that place. For example, if you search for Let's Get It Started and it comes up on the first line listing in the catalog, when you search for the next song, no matter what it says on that first line, you will still here Let's Get It Started when you double click to preview. Very irritating...
