Just What Is MixMeister & What Can I Do With It?

MixMeister DJ Mixing Software
When the mix really matters.

MixMeister software isn't quite like anything else on the market. It's designed for people who care enough about their music to refine a mix until it’s perfect, rather than throw everything together on the fly and hope that it sounds OK. You won't be limited by on-screen simulations of turntables or CD players, either -- you can "tweak" any part of your mix creation in a timeline instead. When you've got the mix just the way you want it, you can play it, burn it to CD, stream it over the Web, or reshape it in real-time for live performances.

Frequently Asked Questions.

MixMeister Software

1) I get error message xxxx come up, what does it mean & how do I get rid of it?

If you get ANY error messages, you're best bet is to follow any on-screen prompt the error message may have given, and then if neccessary report it to MixMeister Technology Tech Support via THIS LINK.

2) Why do my old Mixes (Pro5/6 Studio 6 etc.) not load into Fusion/Studio 7 correctly?

The architecture used for Fusion/Studio 7 is different to previous versions. You *can* open .mmp files from older versions, but they will require work to re-build some of the transitions and overlays. A fuller breakdown is provided on the MixMeister.com website USE THIS LINK.

3) Can I use content from Itunes, the new Napster, rhapsody, MusicMatch Jukebox etc. in MixMeister? Can I use DRM (Digital Rights Managed) files?

The short answer is no! Sorry! Unfortunately MixMeister cannot import files that have 'protection' embedded in them. We reccomend that you use a 'DJ Friendly' online store for your music.

4) What music formats can I use?

From version 7.05.1 of Fusion and Studio 7 you can use: .mp3, .wma (Without DRM), .wav, .ogg, and .flac. MixMeister Fusion+Video also supports .mpg (MPEG-1), .mpeg (MPEG-2), .vob (MPEG-2), .wmv, and .jpg. Other versions of MixMeister allow(ed) you to use .mp3, .wav & .wma.

5) I am using Fusion/Studio 7 and the Volume controls and/or loop controls have vanished! What happened!

Don't Panic! This is easy to resolve - just drag the panels to make them slightly larger and they'll reappear!

6) Why does MixMeister report the BPM as twice as fast/half as fast as it should be? How do I fix it?

The algorithim used within MixMeister can mis-report the BPM's of high/low BPM tunes. To correct it:

  • Select the tune in the Library/Catalog and Right Click, then select Edit Tag (In Fusion/Studio 7) or Properties (In other versions).
  • Then either click the 1/2x button to halve the BPM or click the 2x button to double the BPM.
  • If the BPM still sounds incorrect you can either click along with each beat using the Tap button,

7) Fusion/Studio 7 adds each tune at the same BPM, how do I change it to maintain the original BPM of each tune?

From version 7.05.1 of Fusion/Studio 7 it is possible to determine how tunes are added to the playlist/timeline, to set this:

  • go to Tools>Options>Playlist{Tab},
  • then you can select either of the Radio Buttons Automatic (play tracks at their original tempo by default), or
  • Manual (play a group of beat mixed tracks at the same tempo by default)
