Any suggestions as to how to restore the control bar to open, save a playlist etc. Also lost the line with the "file" and "help" etc.
Thanks! |

A standard procedure in MS Windows applns is to right-click on the bar and choose which elements you want to see ... in this case, the choices are Main, Timeline, Play Control, etc. When checked (selected in the menu) these elements will be visible.
But there is no option in MM to disappear the menu bar (the words File, Edit, View, etc. just under the Title Bar.) If you can't see those it suggests either your MM window is sized too small to accommodate all elements, or the screen resolution is messed up ... or something that you may need to cure by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. A picture of your desktop showing MM open might help with suggesting a cure. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

Thanks for the reponse MadameFLY.
The initial problem was, for some reason, the menu bar was gone. So I was right-clicking around the task/control(?) bar to see if removing/unchecking all the elements of the task bar would make the menu bar reappear. Needless to say, now both the menu bar and task/control bars are not visible. I've tried to: 1)adjust the window size 2)right and left clicked all over the screen 3)adjust the screen resolution 4)uninstall and reinstall the program Now all I'm left with when I start the program is the top blue bar, the Catalog and Playlist panes on the top half and the Timeline pane on the bottom half of the screen. I've had the program for about two years now and am pretty comfortable with it. I've taken some pix of my desktop with MM running but am not familiar with how to attach to this posting. I could attach the pix to an email sent directly to you of you don't mind looking at them. Is contacting Tech support my last resort? Again, thanks for the help! |

I tried to make the menu bar disappear in my v.6 and couldn't -- thankfully ... but of course, that doesn't help me help you. All I've established is that it doesn't appear easy for the operatore to make this happen inadvertently ...
When you uninstalled, did you pick the options to delete all your settings (I forget exactly how it was phrased)? That would mean, of course, reimporting your catalog, which would be time-consuming depending on the size of it (and you might want to export your catalog beforehand, to save someplace where you can retrieve it after reinstallation) ... but that is the way to get MM to "rebuild itself" completely fresh and -- hopefully -- repair whatever caused the disappearance of the menu bar to begin with ... as long as that cause was within MM. Tech Support would be your ultimate call. With any luck, they've heard of this happening before and can assist you better than I can.... I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

Your suggestion to delete all the settings/catalog when uninstalling worked!!! The menu and control bars are back after reinstalling! Thanksfully, my mixes and catalog reside in an external drive so it shouldn't be hard to re-import but it will be as you mentioned, a little time consuming.
Many thanks again MadameFLY and Happy Holidays to you and yours! All the best, JPWL |
