I just completed catalogging my collection of songs (over 4,000) and all of them show as some variation of "A" codes, i.e. no B's.

I take this to mean all are in minor keys, which I find unusual.

Is there something wrong I am doing here or is this possible?

Hi JB,

I asked this question myslef over a year ago, and unfortunately didn't get a definitive answer!

The majority of pop, dance etc music is in minor keys, however my collection has classical and other suitably non mainstream stuff in it - all reporting as minor keys.

I can only assume that MM does not yet distinguish between the two, and that a revision somewhere down the line will correct this!

Thanks Wildr...

if that is the case I upgraded to Studio for nothing, as the keycode feature was what prompted me to move up from Express.

I hope we can get an official response.

I wouldn't be so negative about jb - ok it doesn't report details as you would like, however the actual benefits of the keycodes are still there - using the basis of harmonic mixing, still works (see the tips and techniques section, and also the help file).

I have found that my mixing has taken on a whole new flavour and sounds sooo much better.

Indeed all of my tunes now get sorted into categorys based around the keycode to make it easier to put together a mix .

But having said that, if you are really not happy with the product, then contact support on the mixmeister website and lay out your issues.

Regards,

Well, it's not just the kecode issue.

I originally purchased the express version and loved the interface.

The Studio version feels "older" and much stodgier to use.

It feels like the Express version got a makeover and UI improvements.

Any plans to do the same to the other versions?

Not having used the version of Express 6 I can't comment totally.

Have to say that the lack of tools in the express 5 version I was using was what convinced me that 6 was the way to go (lack of reverse function, inability to set inner sprockets, no keycoding etc).

I don't personally fin Studio 6 stodgy to use - and it's helped my mixing go to higher levels, as with any software, the more you play with it and dig into what you can use the tools for - the better it is!

But as they say "the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some!"
