ok...so here we go....the review first...I'm in the process of looking over the video (80% of the audio is screwed ) I'm cleaning up the pics.... Those will be posted soon...

We started the night off at my friend Jeff's house...drinks, conversation...good times. We made it to the club right around 9:15...things were looking good except for the parking...the Valet had not arrived on the job yet so we had to park about 3 blocks away...not a problem. Got to listen to this live band playing outside of another club on the walk there.

1st problem w/ Velvet Ultra Lounge (no liquor license...yet!) so, like most BYOB parties...we had to head back to the liquor store. That was ok...I was in the mood for my Captian last night (ARrrrgggggh!) The place is absolutely beautiful. Nice plush couches everywhere...marble floors....pictures on the wall that make you feel a little more lively inside...there were some beautiful Paintings at the club. So...you walk in...and boom...dancefloor and dj booth are straight in front of you about 150 feet away....nice seeting and standing areas are on your right....and as you move closer to the dancefloor the "bar" (soft drinks/Red Bulls/Juices/ICE - standard mixers) was just past the corner on the left. The VIP area is up some stairs that sits up and behind the DJ Booth and above the dancefloor. It is open on the right and left sides to allow a wonderful view into the DJ booth and the dancefloor. It is blocked in one area of the room by a 15 foot wall that acts as a projection screen behind the DJ booth, and helps block some of the sound when you're hanging out in the VIP area. (The couches up there were FABULOUS!) We later found a HUGE outside patio and deck area that had an amazing view of downtown Nashville.

1st DJ: Mike Allison (formerly known as TSD)

I've known Mike for a long time...he's played at a couple of shows I have been involved with in the past. He was playing to the opening crowd...so you know what that means...hardly anyone there....but you have that opening slot that will set the vibe for the rest of the night....Mike uses Tracktor...a program I have never seen before...it was able to read the tracks from his laptop to the vinyl that was playing on the decks. He had such a wonderful set, playing some incredibly bouncy tunres throwing in some breaks from time to time to keep the vibe interesting. He played from 9-11 keeping the flow until my friend Ben Blue came on.

2nd DJ: Ben Blue

This was such a change over from the 1st set...Ben has an incredible energy about him...and it shows through his music selection and his sets! The crowd (which finally started arriving) was beginning to feel it as well! I was amazed at the music that Ben was putting together. *(side note...when I first starting spinning...CDDJ's were taboo...WTF! That's all Ben and D:Fuse played w/ last night!!!) Props to Ben for putting on one helluva set!

D:Fuse

Well...this was everything and more than was expected....it took a good 3 minutes for him to start the show, with some hanging ambient chords... and a rythemic session playing off of his drum pad....he kept letting it build...and build...the crowd started going nuts....then...jsust at the last possible minute....he started punching the drums....and then the track dropped and the crowd went BUCK WILD! The strobes were sparkling and the stage lights flashed...pushing us into the beginning of an outrageous mix! There were a couple of times throughout the set that things seemed slightly abrupt...but were passed over by the added percussion that he was playing. He bounced between some beautiful progressive sounds into breaks and then back to trance, flowing seemlessly and keeping the crowd on its feet begging for more. All in all...the next 2 hours were phenominal!

I would love to recommend going to see D:Fuse if he comes anywhere near you....I had a blast...and I'm sure you would too!

Damn this looks like it was a cool show! That chiquita with the baseball cap and the miniskirt makes me feel all tingly inside.... Is that so wrong???
