In the past I have recommended an external sound card by the name of “Advanced Audio Turtle Beach Micro”. Well here is an update for those looking into purchasing this sound card. Turtle Beach does not work on the Vista operating system. It works wonderful with XP as long as you have the correct driver but if you load this onto a Vista system you are asking for troubles. As much as Turtle Beach makes claims that the Micro will work on Vista you will see they make the same amount of claims stating that the external sound card will not work with Vista.
When you call the company they will tell you that you need to email support. That is just a way to get rid of you. Now, if you are able to install the driver which I was and even better to be able to get the equalizer and all the functions to work, they in fact do not all work all the time. Everything becomes very unstable and intermittent. So then I decided I wanted to get rid of it all. Couldn’t it would not go away even when downloading the special uninstaller Turtle Beach has on their website. In short I WOULD recommend this external USB sound card over and over again for XP but NOT for vista! Now recently I purchased two Dell laptops (Studio 1535). I was amazed to find that it is made with two sound cards running on two different ports. It even has a special program like Turtle beach that has an equalizer, separate volume controls, mic recording… and more. Best part is that it works very well with MixMeister once you figure it out. Just some info I thought I’d share. Banter |
