I've been toying with a mix for 4 days and after thinking it was done...I listen to it over & over again...and each time I found flaws in the sound...volume wise and transition blend.
Finally I adjusted all the intros from -6db to -8db to -10db and -12db..... boy what a difference that made to the smoothness of the mix! I don't know if anyone will find this valuable or not...but I just found something...that makes my mixes much smoother sounding. This is perhaps not new...but to me is fantabulous...mix is awesome doing this! I used intro and outros from 16beats to 32beats in the mix... and controlling the intro volumes made a tremendous difference. Try it you'll like it! Never heard anyone mentioning this before...probably cause it was a no-brainer? Does help immensely for that perfect blend!

PS First create your mix with the -6db intros then listen to your mix...and tweak the intros to your liking db wise!

I've programmed this as a new transition using a 16 beat transition, but only as the outro so far. Should be the same for an intro, just reverse the markers.

<transition>
<name>Beatmix 16 (Smoother)</name>
<beatmix>yes</beatmix>
<outro>
<marker gain="0" offset="0" />
<marker gain="-6" offset="16" />
<marker gain="-8" offset="32" />
<marker gain="-10" offset="48" />
<marker gain="-12" offset="64" />
<marker gain="-50" offset="64.25" />
</outro>
<intro>
<marker gain="-50" offset="-0.25" />
<marker gain="-6" offset="0" />
<marker gain="0" offset="64" />
</intro>
</transition>

And for both intro and outro
<transition>
<name>Beatmix 16 (Smoother) (in and out</name>
<beatmix>yes</beatmix>
<outro>
<marker gain="0" offset="0" />
<marker gain="-6" offset="16" />
<marker gain="-8" offset="32" />
<marker gain="-10" offset="48" />
<marker gain="-12" offset="64" />
<marker gain="-50" offset="64.25" />
</outro>
<intro>
<marker gain="-50" offset="-0.25" />
<marker gain="-12" offset="0" />
<marker gain="-10" offset="16" />
<marker gain="-8" offset="32" />
<marker gain="-6" offset="48" />
<marker gain="0" offset="64" />
</intro>
</transition>
