I finally decided to try the overlay feature on mixmeister. I've put an hour mix together and wanted to put a DJ ID after every three tracks or so. I thought all I had to do was click on it and would drop where I want to go. I've tried and tried, nothing happens. Can anyone help?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I would be really greatfull.

Thanks in advance.

click on it where? Are you talking about clicking on the track in the library? in the playlist? on the timeline? Or are you trying to use little rectangles (the overlay bar) under the playlist?

Here's what I do: I select a track from the library and CTRL / drag it onto the timeline where I need it to be; in this way, the track is an overlay as soon as it hits the timeline.

You can also add a track to the playlist and then select the track in the playlist, right-click and choose Adjust Track Settings from the context menu, and choose Overlay Track in the dialog window ... but that's more steps.

I don't usually park any tracks in the Overlay bar (because I can never figure out how to get rid of them) but I just did one, and when I click on the track in that little rectangle, it appears on the timeline as an overlay (you can always tell an overlay because it has a lower-case letter after the track number ... an overlay on track 1 will be designated 1a.

I can't really tell from your question what your actual problem is, but I would highly recommend visiting the program Help files where there is a ton of info on overlays.

BTW -- somebody please tell me how to get that track out of the overlay bar ... I put it there to respond to this poster's question and now I'm stuck with it!!! Can't believe there's not a simple "delete" function for that!

fair question ... yep, I did that ... a context menu pops up but all choices are greyed-out.

I shut the one-track playlist without saving, then I closed the program; when I reopened it, the item was gone from the box.... Clearly, that shouldn't be the routine.

I seem to remember this from way back in the day; it feels like something I've whined about before
