The melt we're primarily concerned with is where Track 1 melts into Track 2 and so on ... in the course of which, atmospherics are amply provided by The Drift, Big Bud, Heights of Abraham, All India Radio and Spooncurve. For adding groove to the mood, we can thank DJ Krush, Bullitnuts, Funky Lowlives and Organic Grooves. Wrap all this up with moments of musical intelligence from Blissom & Ashen, Cinematic Orchestra and Massive Attack ... it all makes a perfect setting for Talk Talk's gem, The Last Time.
I'm betting you'll melt. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

what a beauty this is.
from it's heartfelt horns, and wispy guitars, of the first track, that merged seemlessly into the next. (i had tried writting a small piece about each track, but couldn't place where they began, ended, due to the uncanny expertise of the ladies mixing. the first 12 mins were seamless, very atmosphereic goodness, very organic feeling. it was only when the excellent talk talk track arrived that i realised other tracks had passed me by. you have out done your self again miss fly, the first 12 minutes are breath takingly seamless, each track sounds like it ebbs into the other, only subtle changes in beats give me hints that the flow has changed hands. i'd be proud of transistion of that quality in an whole mix, let alone the first 12 minutes. more as i get the chance. this is my second hearing aswell. outstanding stuff. a delight, and lesson, to all chill/laid back groove lovers. believe the lady when she says she bets we melt, i'm 'kin dripping right, caught the rest, the krush tracks, slightly noticable coming in from talk talks soft exit, but i'm being picky, drums get a bit freaky towards the end, but i like it, nice tempo change, i dunno where Heights of Abraham comes in, but what a tune it is. my other fav bits were Bullitnuts,As the Night Descended, by the abrahams again, and all india radio and spooncurve, not heard of any of these tracks, but sure to keep an eye out for them now. my fav moments are talk talk, and make love, and the other side. thanks for being persistent and hearing this again ... yep, the TalkTalk transitions were challenging ... in fact, the DJ Krush fragment was brought in to assist when the previous sequencing just wasn't working out ... it's definitely taking the corner on two wheels
I know a number of you guys have done 80s mixes (straight 80s as well as "80s and up" stylee) and all I can say is, more power to ya! Some of those tracks from back in the day are a whole lot harder to work with than you might think at first A lot of the beauty of the beginning is due to the Big Bud track ... The All India Radio album I got thru a promo service and then promptly went out and bought their back catalog off CDBaby; Spooncurve came from the same promo service, but I think that's their only release. And what the hell ever happened to Bullitnuts?!?! everything I have from them is quite old.... I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

i've heard melt several times now miss fly, i'd reserve the word persistent for my writting comments, trying to describe what you mix, how you mix it, and do it justice, is where persistent comes in. the hearing of the music is a joy.
you choose it, you mix, you bring us joy. thank you mixmeister changed my life .. u |

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated
I hear ya on the personal taste thing ... I am a fool for breakbeat / syncopated / jazz timing ... it's one of the things that has drawn me away from the straight-up rock I grew up with and turned me out ... now, it's much harder for me to listen to a whack-whack-whack steady rhythm with no surprises and no wrinkles ... just one of those personal evolutions I'm having a fresh listen with yr comments in mind and may have another look at this set during my next TPS fit ... that'll be after the arduous task of the catalog relocation/updating is finished I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

This was a good'un, m'lady
I'll proffer an alternative view from Mr. Wildr - I liked all that drums not quite doing what they "should" do. Coming from the very strictly doof..doof kind of home I normally reside in, it was good to listen something abnormal (for me, anyway). But, as u say Mr. W - strictly a personal thing, so no offence meant This mix was 100% full of stuff I've never heard of, and you had me hooked from the start. Always intriguing (i.e. "I wonder what's coming next?") and beautifully mixed. Flowed great. This is what I adore about MMRadio - there's always something new and different going on and I get to hear stuff that I would normally never get anywhere near This message has been edited. During a time in my music career when I was in NYC a lot, I heard a lot of jazz and I rode the subways (the rickety, clackety subways) a lot also ... I'm not sure which one to blame for setting me up to love breakbeat, all I know is crazy rhythms work for me
Indeed! For me, our stations offer some awesome musical opportunities; I wish I could invent a wireless handheld Windows Media Player that could stream our stations, including the What's Playing Now window, and let community members listen at will ... hey, is anybody working on that idea? I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |
