I got an email last night from a friend in Hamilton, Ontario who is DJing a 420 show today for Hamilton's Hemp Festival ... and indeed, even BeatConscious does have its own 4:20 entry in the Dub & Dubber series to upload today Cool

I started off thinking of this set as Swagdaddies, which would have been a reference to WMC 2008 and the music I ran into there ... and indeed both the lead-off track and the energy-center of the mix appear thanks to WMC influences.

My Swagdaddies also contributed a special promo disc from the Sony Loops and Samples library and I found lots to use and like on that one, including a few to ease some transitions in this mix.

$mallChange was spinning at the Miambient function and dropped Link Wray's immortal Rumble, which is arguably a leading contender for earliest dub-flavored track in the history of Rock ... I was delighted to hear it and the opportunity it gave me to strike up a conversation with Jim ($mallChange's street name.) That track seemed like a fitting start to my own post-WMC mix.

In addition to Link Wray, you'll hear tracks from Dubblestandart, Noiseshaper, Boozoo Bajou, Thievery Corporation, Govinda and Richard Dorfmeister in a couple of different roles -- remixing tracks for Professor Oz and the Funky Lowlives, or joining with Madrid de los Austrias on Valldemossa from the Grand Slam set available on emusic.com.

Back in the Swagdaddies category, there's a track from the remix contest for the Dubmatix track Dust, Dirt & Sand -- here we have the Dubactivist mix featuring Treson. Also (back to WMC) look for a couple of tracks from Subatomic Sound System, particularly their track Rize Up off the On All Frequencies disc which I picked up from group leader Emch at the Miambient joint ... a really compelling track with excellent vocals.

The absolutely huge track, however, is the Cottonbelly remix of Fire, off the Miguel Migs album Those Things (Remixed) which got handed out to a few lucky audience members at the Opium Garden party on our last night in Miami ... and the lyrics are just right for Dub & Dubber's 4:20 mix for this year Wink.... Enjoy it in high style.

And of course the post would not be complete without a link to the Declaration of Independents update.
