Although it takes its title from an Omni Trio song, this is really something of a PFM tribute set ... utilizing mainly reworks of classic tracks released on the Producer 02 album.

The set starts with Universal's Altitude ... putting the "atmospheric" back into Drum&Bass. Omni Trio is represented by the title track and also a Black Rain cut, Streamline. Big Bud, Makoto and Trace all add their touch.

I was pretty happy with the way this one turned out -- not only the mixing, but also the cover art:

Summer being the time for re-runs and all that, I'm taking the opportunity to re-run some classic mixes from years past ... First up, a slightly re-worked version of Breakbeat Etiquette ... the re-working being that I added a new track to the end, James Hardway's "Grow".

Surprisingly, I see that in the original notes for this mix, I never mentioned that it uses all tracks in Standard mode ... no program beat-matching although there is plenty of overlapping going on throughout the mix. It's amazing to me how drum-n-bass, which is nothing if not crazy complex broken beats, lends itself to mixing in Standard mode.

Here's hoping that new visitors and community members who may have missed this back in 2003/4 will have a chance to catch it now ....

I have to say I realy like your mix. I've always been a big fan of The Good Looking Organisation. Unfortunately they have gone downhill a lot over the last few years as their drum & bass sound has become very one dimensional with no great variety or innovation anymore. Their release schedule has also become very slow (particularly in the last two years when they've released very little compared to previous years). I still love the classics though (Big Bud, Nookie, Artemis, Blame etc.). Anyway it's definately a good mix you've (re)done.

Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind!

Thanks for the good words ... agreed about GLO's loss of that energy that made them so special in the early years ... victims of their own success, I guess ... I'd hate to think the sound was simply tapped out.

I have Volume One of this series in line to bring back ... look for Blue Science to rejoin the stream some time shortly...

Absolutely stunning mix this one, you really ought to be playing this stuff out...a set like this in the chill-out space would probably lead to a very empty main room.
