This mix is built around a track I first heard in a set by DJ Justin Sloe that was available online for a while (you can still find reference to it if you google his name) -- a remix of Ruhe By Schiller ... a real chillout classic version. I liked it so much I had to layer it
Though the mix starts out with a few items from back in the day (I haven't run out of goodies from the triphop years yet), the look backward is balanced by picks from some of the more interesting compilations I've run into over the past couple of years: Future Sounds of Budapest, Flowmotion and Cafe del Mar 20th Anniversary ... and it's all rolled out just in time for the weekend. If you catch it, let me know what you think. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

Caught this one from the very begining.... great track selection and the mixing has been pretty damn smooth
You gotta share more of your compilation sources Madame...I need to get my hands on more tracks like the ones in this tasty set... Twisted Rook Co-Host of jack2it and Radio Active Fusion - R.A.F. on MMRadio Moderator Staff Member Twisted Rook @ MySpace |

quote: The mother lode for this set was something I learned about from a musician friend in Canada, Future Sounds of Budapest (multi-vol. set) Because he collaborates online w/ other musicians, esp. in Europe, he gets the heads-up on some relatively obscure items, and mentions them to me when he thinks they fit my style. Barcelona in Dub and Cafe del Mar 20th anniversary set also contributed strong tracks. I would say there's a very strong downtempo scene in Old Europe I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

quote: You're not kidding.... i've noticed that alot, especially in the compilation section...a large majority of the stuff I see is coming out from Europe....plus a lot of the people that have heard my mixes and loved them happened to be European....it's only now that it's starting to get a bigger following here in the states (bigger as in commercial precense). Thanks, I'm glad to hear you're feeling it ... I was worried that my layering technique on the Schiller track might be a little ham-fisted but no one has complained so far, so I feel better
Hey, the Hakim Bey quote is spot-on ... where is it from (or should I Google that and not be so lazy? I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

quote: I actually got it out of a book.(Last Night a DJ Saved My Life by: Frank Broughton and Bill Brewster, which everyone should read.) It has a couple quotes pertaining to each chapter, and I thought it would fit nicely with Mr. Timothy Leary. "We are dealing with the best-educated generation in history. Finally managed to get a broadband connection so I can listen to mmRadio in buffer free 128kbps so I thought it needed treating to some quality sounds.
Just tuned in to this as Ruhe was playing. Nuff said. Beautiful. I'm only sorry I missed the bulk of this mix 'cos once again Fly proves shes the undisputed Queen of chill. I'll be on the lookout for a repeat. |
