Blame this one on the Twisted Rook!
It all started when he uploaded his Eastern Influence set to BeatConscious ... as soon as I heard Thievery Corporation's Trancendence, I remembered some of my earliest mixed-from-CD sets circa 1998, one of which featured the Trancendence track. Well, that's all it took -- the die was cast: I would rework those Dub sets for 2004, using MixMeister and the knowledge gained in the intervening years (because, yes, here it can be told: those early Dub sets are somewhat sorry as to mixing skills So, the first of the resurrected mixes is Foundation Dub, expanded and improved, this mix features plenty of Thievery Corp., as well as tracks from Thunderball, Rockers Hi-Fi, the inimitable Smith & Mighty and even (no lie) James, from a disc produced by Brian Eno. Also making a first appearance are artists from the apparently now-defunct www.bristolsound.co.uk, including Sequel ... more about this man of mystery in another thread ... because, yes, there will be more of the Dub Stylee to be heard on BeatConscious this summer.... People, please welcome The Return of I-Dread.... I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

I'm listening to this one now. Unmistakable MadameFLY quality tunage and mixed to perfection.
This is part 1 and I hope there are a lot of parts to this series 'cos I'm just drifting away on this set. |

You are in luck, my friend ... indeed, there is more to come. The dub stylee exercises a strong attraction on me, partly because my hometown of Washington D.C. had a sizeable Rastafarian sub-culture and one of the finer Dub-Reggae DJs around in the '80s, Dr. Dread. Expect more and better mixes in the next few weeks, of both the high energy and the lazy dub varieties....
