Can't escape the funk, particularly when I receive a remix especially created in response to my taste for the funkly sound. I'm trying to remember when was the last time I felt as flattered by anything as I just was by the receipt of Ohmy from K at digitalevolution ...

I already wanted to create a set using K's two epic tracks, Unda and Tranzluzent, so what I needed to do was find the arc of emotion that connects them all ... let me know if you think I missed it.

In addition to these original tracks from the digitalevolution studio, look for a bit of Tokyo Dawn's Alex Cortex joint Thunder and from back in the day, Marius Melleby's NYC still burns.

Naturally, the mix gathers in some old favorites: up front, that Hird track, as well as Constant Love from Homebase, the Thievery Corp remix of David Byrne's Dance on Vaseline, and the set closes out with E.v.a., a peak moment from Electric Hush, the 1995 Heights of Abraham classic. From more recent times, you'll hear a totally irresistable track from teenage duo Inverse Cinematics called On the Run. And one more (Treating me Mean) from Puddu Varano -- I hate it that I discovered these guys after they split up...

Let me know if this one moves you .... Wink

wow, we are kindred souls, the Thievery Corp remix of David Byrne's Dance on Vaseline, is top of my must have list.

when i do a mix, i name it afterwards, see what grabs me, then i often reshape it, just a tad, to fit it's name.

Stilly, mon frere, isn't that TC/DByrne track the nutz?! I can't seem to hear it enough, so I keep putting it into mixes Razz Wonder what you'd come up with if you took that as your "mood setter"?

I name 'em last of all, mostly because I tend to cobble together mix names out of bits & pieces from the various track titles ... until the end, they have working titles, usually referencing the date I started work on them....

oh yes, let me see if i can aquire it, and mix the muther. it'll be a peach.
my current mood setter, that has to be mixed into everything, is N.E.R.Ds provider (zero 7 mix), utter class.
i too cobble together names from tracks, to make something that sums the mix up. what i have noticed is a stand out mix, with the correctly choosen name, sticks/stays with people, i had a few friends say how much they liked "lentil soup" the other day, i gave that mix out in feb,04. and they've had several others inbetween, these people can't remember what they did the night before normaly, so i was stunned. but it proves that the name can be important, well it is to me. man if i could find the lentil soup playlist, but i too give it a working name, and i don't put the date, i just type wwweerttt, that kinda thing, gulp, and can never find what i'm looking for Frown. a lesson has been learnt. thanks miss fly.
