Fresh upload for the BeatConscious freaks in the audience, you'll find information on these (mostly) indie acts in the Declaration of Independents thread.

Starting with the contrast of the girlish giggle vs. the machine music that mirrors the typical downtempo contradiction of organic vs. electronic ... the Nontourist track goes morphing into controlled insistent rolling breakbeats ...

Neneh Cherry smolders on the next track, one I've loved since forever ... it starts out icy and dissolves into warm, with the cinematic smoothness that befits a soundtrack tune ...
That's a proper lead-in to the raw but minimalist stuff from Compulsive Behavior (raw until the shift half-way through, when that impassioned guitar and strings section starts to soar ... )

Also on board are Kraak & Smaak ... The K&S boys are not strictly an Indie release ... they have taken the music world by storm over the past year ... but you won't hear them on most radio stations, so let 'em play. Money in the Bag is a typically funky outing with a downtown vocal sample that turns into a wall of shimmery sound by the end of the track....

From the Salinas Sounds compilation of a year or so ago comes Iknuf by An Der Beat ... this is a sample from KC & the Sunshine Band's I'm Your Boogie Man... at least, it's the riff that opens it in a couple of remixes I've heard, and I can't find my original KC album to double-check ... anyhow, this is the riff, just the riff, with some frosting on it ... pure dance fun.

Yet one more version of Busenfreund ... I heard it tons at the time of the original Tosca release of Suzuki, so it got put away for a while in order to refresh ... this dZihan & Kamien version is perfectly fresh ...and those piano trills still make my heart flutter.

And there are several more fine musical moments to complete this hour's worth of this summer's independent releases ... with more waiting in the wings for the next mix Cool

Oh, how I love the Summer Smile. Especially when it's as sweet as this mix! Music that doesn't just drag you along but offers an audible environment to explore. Thanks for enhancing this (already swell) summer... Cool

Will definitely have to try and catch this one again!!!

Man, if the mix is anywhere near as good as Fly's write-up about it, then it must be spectacular! (You really do have a way with words, Mdme!).

Sadly, can't listen while at work, but I will make a point to catch it...I really need to refresh my ears and just chill-out for a bit. Wink
