I have thank-you's and acknowledgements to include with this feedback-thread write-up:
In terms of the music, the genesis of this mix was a podcast from Properly Chilled.com … a track that really caught my ear was by Govinda -- Plus Loin from the Sound Sutras album. Besides being a tight little number in its own right, this track is one of the best reconstructions of the Thievery sound I've yet to hear. The only way this joint could be better would be availability on emusic.com and oh, guess what!? That's where I got it. So big, BIG up to ProperlyChilled.com -- that site is everything I would want BeatConscious.org to be if it ever grew up (don't look for that anytime soon, though … ) In addition to Govinda, there was additional new material from emusic.com (four tracks from the Tassel & Naturel set Fillet of Soul, Opus 2) as well as 3 tracks from a 2008 Balearic groove promo sent to me by Gary B -- Melt is the name of that album) and a look back at the Parov Stelar catalog from 2005. Notably, the set leads off with two versions of a Stelar track, one remixed for a Hotel Costes set by Stephane Pompougnac ... In fact, I owe fellow tag-team member Robertdb an acknowledgement for introducing me to his "sorry: wrong beat" sample in the course of our Transatlantic Party tag which recently hit the Selector's Choice rotation HERE. … I hijacked that tidbit in order to cobble together those two versions of the track Kiss Me Twice. In both versions, what I really love is the bouncy propulsive nature of the b-line, how it hits a fraction early, really pushing that groove along…. Another promo came from my old friend, Afternoons in Stereo, who has a new release titled The City is Sleeping; I found two selections off this set to work in well …. They emphasize the essential jazz nature of most of this mix, and one in particular, One for Toshi, is a remarkable pastiche that at one point channels Cinematic Orchestra to perfection. In addition to creating music, AiS also has a long-running jazz/downtempo show on Canadian radio station ... information on that to appear in the Declaration of Independents page. Speaking of jazz, I've been working my way through The Warheads catalog -- having concentrated mostly on their bhangra-tinged material up until now, I'm finally getting to the straight jazz releases -- some very old catalog material still available from their website (but a shot of gratitude to jrs for sending me the stack of CDs) as well as some private promos, which is where the current track Miss Anne comes from … The Warheads continue to be one of the most important discoveries of my 2007 investigations on the internet … For more info and track availability for all the independent artist please check the Declaration of Independents thread.... Filling out the set are classics from Llorca, Marc Moulin, DJ Mark Gorbulew and a track from Aqualife that appeared on the Bedouin Café compilation from 2005. I had a hard time naming this mix …. In the end, I took my cue from a bit of the lyrics in Llorca's The Novel Sound that seem to speak to the DJ in particular:
As always, your feedback is welcome I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

DJ Mojito - All-round DJ Location: Germany in Soest. It´s a little town with old churches, a picturesque old town, many homelike pubs, but also discos and shopping centers. Countrified ambience. It´s a good mix - I love it!
