Ah the early days ... hearing my first acid jazz tracks at that restaurant in Key West Big Grin The group turned out to be Heights of Abraham and you can read all about the journey from then to now on the History of My World page on BeatConscious.org. Also, speaking of BeatConscious, as I was updating the site over New Year's weekend, I realized that my Style Guide pages didn't include a page for Acid Jazz ... a glaring omission Eek

Well, the short version would be: Hey people, I just finished an acid jazz mix and you can hear it on mmRadio Wink

At the AcidLounge Tonite covers a lot of historical ground as well as offering a new track from Heights of Abraham ... you'll hear classic voices of acid jazz such as Cinematic Orchestra, St. Germain (from the Tourist album), Jaffa's monumental track Sneakin' and even some just-about straight up jazz from Courtney Pine.

In addition to the HoA tracks, respect must also be paid to Australia's The Necks ... I first heard of these guys via a disc they released on Spiral Scratch records called Sex ... a single 58 minute track. I later found that most of their releases are discs with a single track on them; however, their CD Next had 5 or 6 tracks on it. The closer for my AcidLounge set is a number taken from that disc called The World at War, which clocks in at a mere 16 minutes, false ending and all.

Two thumbs up? Or not? Post here to let me know what you think.... Smile

I've figured out that the [Kraak & Smaak tune One of These Days was in my Top 5 of 2005 ... there are a half-dozen mixes of it, at least, and this is one of the jumping-est of the bunch Wink

I Looooooved this mix! I'm currently stuck at home with 4 sick children (flu bug) keeping me up all night, and I'm trying to keep on top of my work as well!

This just took my stressing brain on a smooth, uncomplicated journey and enabled my sleep deprived body to just relax and go with the flow!

enough about me tho' The Mix was uncomplicated, simple and most importantly effective, the tunes feed into and off of each other creating a lush sound that takes the highpoints of classic blues jazz artistry and combines it with the cutting edge quality of todays electronica.

More like this please Mme!

So glad you're feeling this one, W ... and I agree, I love hearing this classic jazz sensibility married to the beats and sonic textures of electronica ... definitely one of those cases where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.... expect to hear more of this sound (and hopefully you'll be hearing it in happier circumstances Wink)
