A little bit of that sultry Florida atmosphere for the playlist ... new stuff from Guardner, Taxi, The Orchid and S-Tone, Inc. as well as one of the Kruder & Dorfmeister remixes of Count Basic's Gotta Jazz, just to keep us grounded in the real downtempo vibe ... and wrapping up with Hefner's "Everyday", a track that just will not get outta my head.

Questions? Comments? This is the place to post 'em....

Nodding along to that chilled rollin' drum n bass sound at about 45 min, into some nice dubby vibes.

The sound of open air summer festie sound systems if ever I heard it. Dunno if the tunes are old, new or what but the vibe takes me back....

Thanks guys ...

For the track IDs, I think I can go this far w/o breaking the rules:

Preceding the reggae tinged thingie was the Xaver Fischer Trio's Follow Me (raw deal remix). This group is new in my inbox....

The reggae bit is a Thievery Corp remix of the Better Daze number "Heavenly Sweetness" -- they took it way far away from its humble beginnings and marked it a Thievery joint for life.

That was followed by Quantic's Through these eyes -- oh and BTW, that was the x-fade that I messed w/ til it broke down the BPMs, but fixed up nice thanks to OmletteBros suggestion to Trust the S2B ... I'm indebted.

Curious thing, Monkey Do -- since I live in an area w/ absolutely no dance culture (or none that I can relate to anyway) when I come in contact w/ "new tunes" I never have any idea of when they date from or whether they were the slightest bit popular anywhere ... with none of the usual cultural tags on 'em, it just leaves me free to mix whatevah I respond to .... sometimes it's kinda neat to be so out of the loop.

And for anyone feeling the irrepressible urge to mix triphop ... we have a slot for you on BeatConscious whenever you like Wink

This evenings triple-bill of Beatconscious has tickled my chill bone into action and revived the follow up to Down Gently (for those who may have missed it this was my previous guest trip on the BC show).

Hope to have it finished by the close of the weekend so I can up it from work on monday. Its sounding sweet at the moment with some fantastic bootleg Pink Floyd remixes, a bit of 'proper' ambient and some suprise treats.

Ladies and Gents, please welcome back last summer's hit, Here's Your Heatwave ... the Remix DeLux.

Some song info is available already in this thread, but this was another resurrection that saw some far-reaching changes ... the Taxi track is history, and while none of the other originals dropped off, several new songs were added ... As it happened, I received a review copy of the lastest from basicLux Records in Hotlanta -- Volume 2 of New Sound Theory. I knew there were several notable tracks I'd want to use and "Heatwave" turned out to be the perfect home for them....thus the "remix DeLux" bit.

Listen closely for Beat Pharmacy's "Living on Love", "Krush Groove" from Paul T, The GrooveOholics doing "Night Life" and more. I filled in the remaining available minutes with bits from Canton (Greg Long) and Baby Mammoth.

Comments welcome, as always....

Hmmmmm, I'm a little late on this post Big Grin, but I just caught the part about the no dance culture in florida, just a little after the fact. Talk about no dance culture(unless you count line dancing Roll Eyes), look to the midwest. People here have no conceptin of any dance genre, house, trance, downtempo you name, they've never heard of it. You could go ask someone in the street, what a DJ was, and I think they would be confused. They don't get the mixing aspect of DJing at all. Of course everone has heard some scratching, so when you say "turntables" they think scratching.Them:"so you DJ or something?". Me:"ummm yeah". Them:"(odd scratching noises and circular hand motions)". Me:"no, i don't scratch, I beatmatch." Them:"Whats that?". Me:"you know I mix music....". Them:"ummmmm....yeah, whatever, so what kind of music do you "mix"?". Me:"Tech-trance". Them: "you mean like that beepy techno stuff". Me:"ummm no, not exactly, but sure, something like that. ThemFrownstumble away with confused look on face). Roll Eyes
If i lived in florida and was over 18, I would be boppin down to Miami ever chance I got, to go to Space 34. We have nothing around here that even resembles a major dance venue except for the large hip-hop club with a random backroom techno night. Dance music may catch on eventually, but not soon enough. I just had to vent some recent frustrations on the issue. Mad Roll Eyes

Yep, Miami ... but (for me) just once a year, in March during WMC ... the concentration of good music justifies the expense and the exposure to the less-enjoyable aspects of club culture.
