Let me confess ... I may be guilty.
What's this, you say -- is it all about to come tumbling out at last!?!? Well, of course, cherie ... you know I always tell you everything.... So here is my confession: I may be guilty of practicing medicine without a license ... because BeatConscious is certainly intent on dispensing mind-altering, mood-improving medicaments in the form of carefully crafted sets whose sole purpose is to re-train your brain for the better. If that's a crime, well then, come and get me, coppers! What's in today's motion potion? Deep funk from the independent music side of the sheets, featuring both small-label and no-label artists ... the roster includes: The Warheads, Worldwide Groove Corporation, Autopilot, Freddie Cruger / Red Astaire, Fila Brazillia, Afternoons in Stereo, Amy Winehouse and Skalpel, among others. This set combines sexy vocals, deep funk and jazz in select proportions guaranteed to make you feel better within the hour (mix is actually 71 mins) ... We start sweet with one of my favorites from Aim and Kate Rogers ... if it makes you twitch to sit through this version of Sail, that's proof right there that you need the BeatConscious treatment .... Don't worry, by the time we get to the end of the set, with Rodney Hunter's hot minute on Work That Body and Red Astaire's relentlessly funky Come Down, you'll be feeling energized, not sleepy .... Along the way, you'll have your brainwaves recalibrated during jazz tracks from The Warheads, Skalpel and Nontourist, and your libido will get seriously lubed courtesy of Worldwide Groove Corporation's smoldering remake of The Man I Love, Freddie Cruger's come-hither lesson in The Way You Look at Me and, of course, Amy Winehouse will leave you breathless with her stunning track What It Is About Men.... So ... am I guilty? You be the judge.... This message has been edited. Last edited by: MadameFLY, I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

Thanks, guys ... really appreciate the props.
plur, that DJ Vadim / Sarah Jones track gained some notoriety back a few years ago when the FCC imposed sanctions against stations that played it ... the FCC position being that it was somehow offensive ... though you will note Ms. Jones' rap does not include any of George Carlin's 7 dirty words you can't say on radio. I take it you guys weren't offended, for which I'm very grateful Hope to have another indie / new music set ready for the station real soon ... I may be guilty...of not having heard this set yet....work has been kicking my arse this week...today in particular. But now that I know that there's a Worldwide Groove Corporation track (from Nashville of all places) in here, i'm going to have to make a special effort to get down with this.

Moto, thanks for taking the time for the listen and comments, I'm glad you enjoyed the set....
The Fila track is a promo ... the guys from 23 Recordsare also the Heights of Abraham guys, a very significant group for me. Since we made contact, they have been kind enough to include me in their promo list.... Rodney Hunter and Red Astaire ... now, that's what I'm talkin about when I'm talkin about "funky" I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

I cant believe I’ve only just caught this mix (esp. since its been on the show for over two months). Anyway I really enjoyed listening to it. The mixing was spot on every time and the track selection varied and interesting. I particularly liked the way it got uplifting and funky for the last few tracks. It cheered me up no end (im off work sick today
Definately guilty on all charges. Relax. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind! |
