I've searched the forums and didn't see anything on this. I've got my catalog set to auto-update with my music directories but it also imports all the album art image files into the catalog as well. I don't want to have to manually update the catalog since my music collection is ever changing. Has anybody come up with a way (or maybe a patch) that can tell MM to exclude certain filetypes (in this case, specifically .jpg files) from the catalog?

Version 6 products never had that improvement and there is no further development work expected for that older version.
However, you can quickly eliminate all such files using the SORT feature of the Catalog / Library: in the search field, type "jpg" or "jpeg" and all such files will appear as a group that you can then select and delete. You may want to quickly eyeball the list to satisfy yourself that there are no music files included but "jpg" is a pretty unique search string and unlikely to appear as part of a track name or artist name... When you delete, you'll have the choice to delete just from the catalog listing or also from your hard drive; assuming you have these items backed-up to CD or theh like, then taking the second option will mean not having to eliminate these same files the next time you perform this function. HTH I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |
