I have a scenario I need to run by the community here; I use a laptop with MM6Pro and an external hard drive. I also have MM6Pro on my home PC. The question is if I use my home pc to create the plot files/Mixes (Plot files are created along side the music files) then use the external hard drive with the new plot files in my laptop will there be any problems with the laptop seeing and using them?

If you've got the MM app option set to save its plotfiles alongside the music files, it should not be a problem--e.g. your laptop should not have to re-scan the files.
However, plot files can behave erratically at times in all versions of MM, so I would recommend a periodic "freshening"--e.g. re-scans of the original files and re-creation of plot files from time to time. On occasion, a file will not beatmatch properly and/or behave erratically because of an error in scanning. Keep your plot files fresh. I tend to rely on the filesystem exclusively to store my music files--don't use the MM library much for sorting and tend to move things into new directories via the filesystem for various gigs and projects. So, this naturally causes MM to rescan my files. Hence, I also tend to remove extraneous .mxm's from time to time. Tim, Co-host of Jack2It MMRadio |
