Hi,
Oh boy.Though I registered years ago first time I had to post for Help. System Nforce 3 2Gig 400mh DCH DDR Athlon 2800 333SBus Massive Blower Type cooler for chip RaptorSata 79G HD XpPro Lite fat32 install MaxtorSata Hd 8mb 160 G DVD 8x burner 2 Liteon 48x 1 SB Audigy 2 24bit 3x2000watt Pyramid amplifiers 2xPyramid 4way Auditorium Speakers 1x home brew Subwoofer 1 pyramid 3input mixing console In the last year the computer had some hickups running at 2.3gh 1.75v on Athlon so slowed it down to 2gh and tonight to 1.8 at 1.65v.Memory at 380 which is slower than its rate. MMPro6 default setup Video off 2x VBRacks preloaded with plugins mostly off at startup 3waves C-1 on 4 Last Time Works Mastering compressor on She runs fine with Foobar.Worked on this Xp and removed IE,Built in Burning etc loads at 79m in memmory for 4 years now.Use Disckeeper on manual and Vopt.Harddrives 0 defragmentation.C drive is 9Gigs XpPro Lite partition.9 processes at startup. Is it a Hardware issue?Processor memmory motherboard going Bad Power supply or is it MMPro is corrupted and I have to reinstall? Figure will Swap the power supply out for a new spare first. Then Swap out memory to my other computer Internet Athlon with similar 2gigs of memory.Last swap processor to 2400+ mobile. If I have to reinstall MMPRO6 I am worried that I will have to reinstall all my plugins also.Have over 60.Have all the original CDs except cannot find the Spin right VST wrapper file.As about 30 plugins are VST not DX. Any suggestions help appreciated.Just remembered I can Install the MM that came with Audigy card years ago also and test. Too late tired tonight.Figure its hardware possibly power supply. The first supply that came with this fancy case lasted 2 weeks?Current one over 3years anyways.Well just installed imaging software. No hickups on Comp so far.Better back this partition up and all those hundreds of Mp3 on both Hd.Did scan disk twice.Temp of processor 42c raptor 47c. at 2ghz temp is 43c at 2.3 45 What sayeth anybody? |

You don't indicate if you have provided this information to the Technical Support people, but you should ... they are there to help with system issues like this. Use the link under option 4 on this page. Good luck. I got something for your mind, your body and your soul. |

I'm not clear as to what, if anything, changed between your successful performance and the onset of trouble. Did you install additional software of any kind? Did you have a system crash of some type prior to the onset of trouble (Windows instability)?
If nothing changed at all, e.g. there were no changes to your hardware or sofware base, then I would have to point the finger at some sort of hardware failure. You are correct. Pro 6 is no longer supported via MM tech support, but the basic specs of your system should easily support Pro6 with any variety of plugins, although pushing Pro6 to support a VST wrapper would be a stretch for the program, as Pro6 was only designed to support DX plugins. Thanks for the reply! “Mishaps are like knives, that either serve us or cut us, as we grasp them by the blade or the handle.” That being said "when it rains it pours" It is apparently a hard ware and corruption issue of MM6 software. Reinstalled MM6.The last version that came out.Mine was the first version.Whoopie had access to all plug ins everything else worked.Ran a Hard drive Utility repaired a couple of bad spots on HD.Bad sighn.Hd runs hot. The culprit hardware wise is probably the Ma inboard.Have a small fan from a 486 CPU blowing over the Dual Ch DDR.Fan blowing over HD etc.In fact you hear slightly over the sound system a cool whiz when the comp when it cranks up with all the fans Blowers in a sealed case neat. I use air filters cut from air conditioning filters on Intake fans sounds like a spaceship revving up! She is working now with original CPU slightly under clocked. Its possible but not likely a degraded CPU.What I have to explore when over clocking what this does to ma inboard chips.I am going to salvage the guts of the computer and use it for a backup in a found in the garbage case with IDE drives. No over clock. Lots of great Mobo combos available cheap that will take my Wd rap tors and memory.Or just go for a partial upgrade. Well I grabbed the Blade.Time for a Mobo upgrade.Shoosh Intel Quad 9500,using a pair of 512 Nividia pcie dual DVI vidio cards SLI could possibly run 4 monitors? Emailing Nividia 4 gigs of dualch 1333m memory 64bitarchitecture .With processing horse power video will be a snap..Stripped down version of Xppro lite 64.Use my old flamboyant case.Ah and a Creative sound blaster Extreme 64mb card with control box.And a server power supply at 800 watts. Not spending more time on this headache.Time for an upgrade!!!Still going to use MMPro6 though Ha Ha! Thanks again for the reply s! Now to do more research make sure MMpro will run on 64bit.If not just go to 32bit!! |

One change lowered the CPU usage and memory usage was going to the Vb rack 16 instead of using the free 3 VB4 rack to hold plug ins.Made more room by remembering to load my favorite compressor Time works Mastering as a Track plug and Waves L3 Ulta Maximizer.Definitely over all better to use Dx versions. You learn as you go! Thanks for all the help!!! |

Hey all MM beatmixers!
This guy has provided an excellent and detailed example as to how you go about resolving troubles with software and hardware! These are the exact kinds of procedures that I go through when trying to resolve complex problems of this nature. You need to understand what you are trying to do with your system and then be able to detail the problem, eliminating non-issues as you troubleshoot. In particular, MS Windows IS NOT (and has never been) a generally stable platform. Software will not always perform to your expectation. Things can go awry. Having a base understanding as to the nature of your hardware and the operating system goes a long way to you getting a resolution whether you are working to solve your own problems or whether you are enlisting the services of MM tech support.
