Sorry, I posted this in the express 6 forum first, by mistake.
I bought a gigaport AG to use with my laptop. It's a USB to 8 channel analog device. I could not get it to work with Mixmeister. I could only get 2 of the 8 channels of teh gigaport to work. I posted this question on the ESI Forum (Gigaport manufacturer): I bought a Gigaprort AG. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 with 640mb of memory, USB 1.1, XP SP2. I am using Mixmeister 4 and a karaoke program, Swift Ultralite. I have been using the Echo Indigo DJ Sound card with no problems: the karaoke program automatically uses the windows default audio device. I would set the windows default audio device to Echo Digital channel 1-2. Then, in Mixmeister, I would select single output and set the device to Echo Digital 3-4 with no problems. So, I installed Gigaport per the directions. It uses ASIO 2.0 Drivers V2.61. Mixmeister only sees "Gigaport AG" in the audio output selection boxes, as opposed to 8 virtual outputs (4 stereo). Plus, the only default audio device is the Gigaport AG (plus "primary sound driver and Crystal WDM Audio), but no other gigaport outputs. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, using latest drivers, using windows drivers etc. It only works from outputs 1 and 2, but nothing else. Is the gigaport 'application sensitive', in other words, somehow Mixmeister have to support it? Any suggestions? And here was their reply: GIGAPort AG can send out 8 audio channels ... - with applications supporting ASIO when our ASIO driver is installed (= 1 ASIO device for all 8 channels) - with applications supporting multichannel MME (WDM) when our ASIO driver is not installed (= 1 wave device for all 8 channels) GIGAPort AG does not provide separate MME devices as often used by older Windows 9x/Me compatible audio applications. In case such applications are used, only 2 channel playback is possible and it would be wise to check if there is an update of the software available that either supports multichannel MME devices according to the WDM standard from Microsoft or -even better- ASIO. As I do not know Mixmeister 4, I do not know what driver interfaces it supports, sorry. Gurus, can you help? I do not understand MME devices etc. |

Can I have everything louder than everything else? |
Hi Don
Support for ASIO sound cards was a new feature in Studio 6 and Pro 6, so you will probably need to upgrade to get your Gigaport working. My advice is to download the demo of one of these products, and install it (by default it will install in a different directory and won't affect your MM4 installation). Copy just a song or two into the catalog, and see if you can get the output working. You'll need to click on Tools, Audio Output Configuration to set the program to ASIO mode. If it works (and I'm sure it will), then you can decide whether or not to upgrade. (((ardent))) |

I realise this is an old post but I thought I'd mention that I use an ESI Waveterminal with MM Pro 4 and CAVS with no problems. Been doing it this way for years. I suppose that is the primary reason why I never noticed this post. I would hav been searching for this topic if there had been any problems. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else happened to come along wanting to know.
